My story begins while I was on my summer break in northern Ontario, near the end. We ended up stopping off at Wasaga Beach on the way back home for the day of relaxation, swimming, tourist traps, and more. I was looking for a way to change my appearance before I went back home. Just to make a bang with everyone back at home. Just to cause a stir. I ended up bleaching my hair blonde, and walking into a tattoo/piercing parlor on the Beach. (I can't remember the name right now, and I can't find any of the products from the place I used.. but I'm sure people are familiar with Wasaga Beach)
At A Glance Author anonymous Contact anonymous@bme.anon IAM laryssa When Three months ago Location Wasaga Beach It was pretty much a perfect day. The sun was shining (which was unusual for this summer. We spent most of it hiding away from rain and other moist conditions that pretty much ruined the months that we were supposed to be subjected to sun and fun)
Anyway, so I walked in. At first, I was unsure of what I wanted. This is probably a bad idea.. But I've always been impulsive in my decisions, and every time, personally, I've been happy with the results. No different this time. I decided on an eyebrow piercing after seeing one of the artist's. I looked into the mirror, imagined it, and saw it working for me. I paid, and began to wait.
The place was pretty packed, but I was assured I would only wait 15 minutes at the most. I ended up continuing looking into the mirror picturing what my new piercing would look like. I ended up picturing what my face would look like with full on facial piercing. I was disappointed when I realized I only had 80 dollars in my pocket.
During this time, I also debated on getting a tattoo. I decided for sure on a location of where I would like the tattoo. My lower left side of the back is the place of choice. I looked at the designs they had on the wall, but decided that if I was going to brand my body in such a permanent way, I would like to take some real effort and thought, and maybe even create my own design (hopefully, with the help of a real artist) I have some ideas, and hopefully very soon, I'll have another story ... just as quick, easy and painless as this one will turn out to be.
They didn't lie, and I was whisked in there. Much to my relief, the more time passed; the antsier I was beginning to feel. Before I knew it, I was sitting beside a guy getting both of his nipples pierced with a bunch of his friends, and sitting in front of a guy with a lot of tools. I remember the other artist in the back telling this guy that it didn't hurt anymore than a purple nurple. This prompted his friends to pay special attention to his other nipple that was yet to be pierced. I remember laughing, and then laughing even harder when they were scolded by another employee.
After being asked where I wanted the piercing (I told him to pick) I was clamped down, and pierced. The pain was minimal, and they gave me quite a good information package on how to take care of the piercing afterward. They also provided me some sort of Q tip like devices that pop and wet the cotton part with some sort of alcohol based solution to speed the healing process.
The only unfortunate thing about these Q tips is that they did not last me as long as I needed them. I ended up using regular alcohol and polysporin, which isn't all that bad, but not as convenient as these Q tips had been for me. I could not purchase more, because I was not from Wasaga Beach. I went to a few of our local parlors and it turned out that none of them sold the product. They, however, did give me some pointers on keeping the piercing clean of infections. Great help they turned out to be (no sarcasm either!)
Overall, it was a good experience for me. I ended up taking out the piercing for work, but I do enjoy the look of it still on my days off.
In conclusion, what I have to say, if you're sure of yourself and you're impulses, go for it! I would recommend researching a little before hand. I was lucky with the service I received at the particular place I visited, and I'm sure many, if not all parlors are the same.. but everywhere there's always a bad apple that pops up and ruins the reputations of the rest. Am I right? References and referrals are always a good reassurance that you are in good hands, and may cut down on the nervous feeling before the piercing begins. Go for it.
