I love traveling so when I went to Toronto it was only expected that I come home with something done, be it a new tattoo or a new piercing.

We were hanging around in Chris' living room talking about the bois punched septums. I used to have my septum pierced at a 14ga and the bois had theirs punched at 9mm. Dan was trying to convince me to get my septum punched when I mentioned I wanted to get something pierced. It had been a while since I had something done and I had that " need a new hole" feeling. I definitely didn't want to get my septum pierced again let alone punch a big hole in it. Way to many allergies to try and heal another nose piercing. I still wanted another facial piercing, so Matt gave me the "are you serious" look, "I'll pierce you" he offered. I have only known Matt for a couple of weeks, but I trusted him to do it. He definitely sounded like he knew what he was doing, and I am very picky when it comes to letting people pierce or tattoo me.
We moved over to a better area in the room with more space so I could sit comfortably out on the floor, nothing with sharp corners near by as I have a tendency to become dizzy and lightheaded after a piercing. We made sure to move to a spot with good lighting. He set up everything that he was going to need, wearing his latex gloves as I sat there and tried to sit still. He got the jewelry, clamps, needle, and everything out while I tried to figure out between my bridge and eyebrow.
I decided on my bridge on the spur of the moment, I wasn't sure what I wanted but I knew I had to have something, after all it was BME fest weekend!
Matt cleaned the area off and showed me where the piercing was going to go, perfect placement. He stuck the clamps on and boy was that brutal. They were definitely the worst part of the piercing. Once the clamps were on Matt directed me to keep my eyes closed, and take a deep breath. Slowly start to exhale, 1...2...3... and the needle was through. Going in on the left side and coming out my right. The needle felt easy going in but it felt as though there was a strong resistance coming out. It felt like the piercing itself had taken a minute but really it was only seconds. The barbell going it was no problem at all, didn't hurt a bit.
Matt was excellent throughout the whole procedure, there are a lot of good piercers but I felt very comfortable with him. I have bunches of piercings and bunches of tattoos but he still explained what he was doing. Of course I knew exactly how the procedure was going to go, but something soothing about having someone explaining what they are doing as they go along so I know what he was doing when he was doing it. As he screwed the ball on the end I could feel my excitement growing. Finally I had my bridge pierced.
There wasn't very much swelling and the barbell felt very awkward, I couldn't wear my glasses so I had to stick to contacts for the time being. The balls were a little big, I could see light shining off of them and that almost drove me insane.
The first night with it was alright, there was a little bit of pain but nothing that I didn't expect. Sleeping was difficult, I kept waking up in the middle of the night grabbing at it, thinking there was something on my face.
The first morning I woke up with a little bit of dried blood after trying to rip it out in my sleep. Just letting the hot water run over it in the showers made it feel so much better. Really that's all I did during the healing process. After a long how shower I would use a cotton ball to gently remove whatever funk was left on the piercing.
It has been about a month since I have had the piercing, crusties are rare. I have changed the barbell to one much smaller and I love the way it looks. I am one of those people obsessed with having straight piercings and this one is right on, I love it to pieces.
I want to give this one six months and then I am thinking about adding on either another piercing directly above it, or adding on a vertical bridge.
