I have always been intrigued by piercings and tattoos. The first time I went into New York City, I could not believe all of the different things that I was missing out on. There is so much diversity and acceptance, not one person appears like the other as oppose to the people that I normally see, clad in all of the same clothes and same hair and all that crap. Anyway....

At first I really wanted to get the industrial. I went into the city with my friend and I was planning on getting it but I chickened out. I read so many stories and looked at as many pictures as I could find on the industrial and I liked it even more, but the stories freaked me out a little because I am afraid of shots and needles. I am a wimp when it comes to pain. So I gave up on the whole idea.
A few months later I was looking at piercings online and I came across the eyebrow barbell. I really liked it. I did all the research and heard that they had a high risk of rejection, which I was not excited about but I decided that this would be my new idea. My friends and I went to the city again and while we were on the train, I decided that I wanted to get my eyebrow pierced and this time I wouldn't chicken out. We got off the train and walked to the tattoo place. I was so nervous. I walked in and they gave me the papers to fill out and I did. I paid them(40$) and was walking around the shop looking at all the things they were selling. They called me into the back and I begged them to let me take a friend in there with me and they did. I asked one of the workers if they could pierce it with a 18 gauge and they said that 16 is usually standard and isnt that bad. I also asked which would heal better and they said a barbell would be fine.
I sat down in the chair and watched the piercer take out all of the sealed bags and clean the counters and all of that. He marked my eyebrow and showed me but I did not like the placement, so he moved it and I was happy. He just started talking while he was cleaning my eyebrow and preparing all of the materials. My leg was shaking like crazy! I grabbed my friends hand and was squeezing it and I closed my eyes, even when he was just preping the materials. He took the clamp and put it on my eyebrow, which didnt hurt that much and then he pushed the needle through. Suprisingly it didn't hurt that bad at all! I am not going to say that it was painless because it wasn't at all. He put the jewlery in all while we were still carrying on a conversation. It was great. He did is so fast and he didn't warn me or anything. I liked it better that way. He gave me a mirror to look at it and I liked it, but I wasn't as happy with it as I thought I would be. It was all finished and I stood up and watched him throw out all of the used needles and he told me to clean it three times a day with anti-bacterial soap. He told me to also use bactine or sea salt spray but he recomended the spray, so I bought it from them too. I walked out of the room and all of my friends outside liked it. I was pleased. It didn't bother me at all, it was just a little sore, but nothing unbearable. We walked around the city all day afterwords and I was so pleased with myself. I finally did it, and I am so happy that I did.
When I came home and I cleaned it. It stung a little with the soap but the sea salt felt great on it. I have had it for three days now and I don't even know it is there, the pain is very minimal. However it gets very itchy. You have to be careful when chaging clothes though because it gets caught on your shirt and that hurtss. It is also really easy to hide, I parted my hair a different way to cover my left eyebrow and my manager didn't even notice until I showed it to her. And suprisingly, she wasn't mad at all. I have also gotten used to it being there. It feels like its a part of who I am. I am really glad that I went through with it and I recomend getting a piercing if you really want it.
