Ever since I seen a picture of a girl with an eyebrow piercing, I knew I'd have to get one. I knew my parents were against piercings besides the ears, but I continued to beg anyways. There answers went from "no" to "if you got good grades" and back to no. Being the rebellious person I am, I decided to go buy some eyebrow barbells (16g) from Hot Topic and pierce myself. I pierced my eyebrow on a school night at 12 am. I must have been pretty damn stupid because I didn't even use a needle to pierce it. I soaked the barbell in anti-septic solution, plucked my eyebrows a bit, cleaned the area I was piercing, and drew two dots where I wanted the eyebrow to enter and exit from. I also used my evanescence CD of amy lee on the cover, to see where her eyebrow piercing was. I had no other picture off the computer of an eyebrow piercing. I had no clamps, so I used my left hand to hold out the piece of skin away from my skull to avoid hitting a nerve. I stuck the barbell into the skin w ith some difficulty (since I didn't use a needle), and I felt a little pain, less than getting your ear cartilage pierced though. I finally had it half way through, and by that time, I was extremely tired and decided to just wake up the next morning and push it through the top. I slept on the opposite side I pierced my eyebrow on.

I woke up the next morning and wasn't surprised to find the eyebrow area a bit red, but it didn't hurt at all. I cleaned it with some anti-septic and attempted to push the barbell out the top. I tried until there was about one membrane of skin left. I could see the silver metallic-color of the jewelery through the skin. I tried so hard to get it through, but it wouldn't seem to budge.. SHIT! So I went to school with it like that, thinking I'd stick it through all the way sometime in my 6 classes, I made sure I brought the ball closures and a needle, just incase I had to make a hole through the top with it. So off to school in my dad's car.. some how I made it past him without him seeing my eyebrow. I covered my left eye with my hair. Anyways, it was in my 3rd period I remembered there was a girl in my class who pierced people frequently. She had her nose, tongue, and navel pierced. I was so desperate at the time, I didn't care who pushed it through.. I just wanted to get it through and put the other ball closure on the barbell! So we went to the back of the classroom while my teacher was faced the opposite way, and she took a few tries to get it through the piece of skin. She finally got it through and I was so darn happy! My left eye was watering, and I realized how much it didn't hurt. I mean, I felt it go through, but there wasn't any real unbearable pain. After screwing the ball closure on at the top, I was done!

I realized I had nothing to clean my eyebrow with until I got home, but I made it through the day alright. I was getting compliments throughout the day thus the swelling. It didn't occur to me that I was going to have to face my parents! They didn't notice it until we went out to dinner that night. They yelled to me and said how they can't believe I disobeyed them, blah blah.. I ended up getting grounded, but it was totally worth it. :) The next day my mom ended up complimenting me on how good I lined it up. But my dad was bugging me about how it's all red and it's getting infected! Obviously he doesn't know that piercings normally swell up within a few days of getting it pierced. I clean my eyebrow every day, twice a day, with Dial all natural anti-bacterial soap, and it's doing great so far.. the swelling cleared up after a few days, I get a few crusties now and then but no signs of infection. I'm trying to take very good care of it to avoid migration and infection.

I HIGHLY suggest you get it done by a professional if you want one. what I did was very, very risky, and you could leave some permanent damage to your face. You don't want to get a blood disease like my mom keeps warning me about! So if you really want an eyebrow piercing, go and get it done! It is really worth the quick pinch!
