This is about my first piercing, my eyebrow and how I avoided it getting infected (so far). Ok a bit of background I am 17 and recently broke up with a long time girlfriend. I had always wanted an eyebrow piercing but she didn't want me to have one in case it got infected and I died. (However that works???). I was slightly concerned about infection as I have had heart surgery twice. I was not really concerned about my body rejecting it as I already have 6 steel bars holding my ribs together from heart surgery.
At A Glance Author Nick Contact Nick@bme.anon When A month ago Artist Sandy Studio Deka: Pierced and Proud Location Surfers Paradise, Australia I did a lot of research and found the only place worth considering was Deka. All my pierced friends went there and have never had a problem. I looked at a couple of other places, but Deka just left them for dead with cleanness, professionalism and the good atmosphere. So I decided not to tell my parents as they would probably tie me to the bed so I couldn't escape and get it done. They are very conservative.
Ok, so the big night. I was hanging around with my mates and I just said, guys I am ready let's go do this. So we all piled in my ride and headed in Surfers Paradise. I had eaten recently and not drunk any booze so I was fine in that aspect, and I am not scared of blood and needles because of all the surgery I have had. (I got a phat scar!!) We got the Deka and I was a bit nervous about it, but pretty amped. I walked in and paid and as I was filling the form out I realized that this was it. For a few seconds I wanted to back out but then I got over that and just went, lets go for it! Sandy, my piercer sat me down and told me how it would go and drew the little dots on my eyebrow. I asked my friends if they liked the location and they were stoked. The all got to sit around and watch much to their excitement. She showed me the fresh needle and the sterilized tools. I had heard about having 3 deep breaths and on the 3rd it goes thru. So when I took my first, exhaled and felt a sharp pain I was a bit shocked. I am not gonna lie, I thought it hurt; it wasn't unbearable but was unpleasant. There was a weird feeling for a few seconds when the needle was in the top of my eyebrow but not through the bottom. Sandy then fitted the barbell and set it all up. I looked in the mirror and was ecstatic. She told me to clean it with this fluid I was given twice a day and just baby it. Also I was told LEAVE IT ALONE!!!. So I did just that
Cleaned it twice a day after a shower, went to the beach every couple of days and didn't frig around with it in the meantime.
As for parents, well I didn't get to see them for about 2 days and my mum found out when she saw the cleaning solution in my bathroom and rang me to say NICK WHAT HAVE YOU GOT PIERCED???? Anyways, she got over it in about 2 days and my dad (who is very conservative) thought it was pretty cool and told me to be careful not to get it infected. All my friends love it and I have picked up a few girls just cos they like it. :P My grandparents wouldn't talk to me for a few days after I got it, but they have just accepted it now.
Here I am more than a month later and nearly fully healed. It was sore for maybe a week, but now it is fine I don't notice it. As long as you clean it twice a day with gentle antiseptic and leave it alone it will heal fine. The beach is great for it and salt water does wonders if it looks a bit off and red. I knocked it a couple of times but it didn't rip. I nearly tore it out scratching my eyebrow once, but I just cleaned it straight away and it was fine. As for me, I am looking around for my next project, my first tattoo! I guess to sum up this piercing is great as it is now fairly mainstream and stylish. I work in an accounts department and my 38 yr old female boss thinks its hot.. :D Best of all when you get sick of it you can take it out and all that's left is 2 small dots. So if you are thinking about getting one my advice is go for it, just keep it clean and ensure you go to a good place to get it done.
