I am, a very spontaneous person, I love spontaneity, it's what makes me tick I guess. So anyways I was in the middle of class and I decided I was finally going to get my bridge done as soon as class was over. I had always wanted it done, well for a few years anyway, so I made my mind up to do it right then. I didn't tell anyone, and I didn't ask for anybody's opinion, I just went to a phone to ask if the local artist does bridges and he said "yep!" So off I went. Bad Idea.

But I just had to get it done because who knows when the next time I go out of town would be. It could be months, and my bridge would be healed by then. So I decided to get it done regardless and see how it goes. You never know, this could be the one piercing he actually does a good job on. So I went in, told him I was the girl that just phoned and he said "ok, just come on back (in to my dungeon of hell .. muwahaha-just kidding!)." I had to run outside to my car to grab my glasses so he could put the stud in a place where I could still use them for reading. I swear he must have drawn all over my face with black marker, a million tiny 'x' marks for sure!! I sat in his chair and turned towards him and he showed me the brand new sterilized needle. He told me the two most important things to do was breathe deeply and DO NOT MOVE. And the clamp went on (that was probably the most pain and it didn't really hurt that much, it just felt like someone was squeezing the skin), the needle went through, and I didn't move an inch. He was actually very nice and gentle, and constantly making sure I was doing ok, every artist should take good care of their client.
The pain was not bad at all. To tell you the truth, there's just something about a needle going through my body that I just like, even relish. At some point in time, I remember him saying that it would be crooked until the skin was no longer swollen so I was like "ok it looks good." He cleaned it, and then I paid for it ($60- not bad) and went home.
A while after I got it done, I had a few headaches that lingered on and off for a few days after. I was warned about these by the guy. It was because of the pressure that was put on my sinuses and the fact that you have a brand new piece of metal stuck in your head that your body wants to reject. He said that approximately one in ten people experience these headaches, but they don't last for very long, mostly up to ten days after. Mine were gone about 5 days after, and I just took an advil or two to cure them and I was fine. But if you are still getting headaches after a long time and they really bother you, I would suggest taking it out.
When I got to my house, it looked crooked which made me very upset. As of now it is still crooked, however not as much. It is only noticeable when you really look at it. Oh well, I guess that adds to the uniqueness of it! Think Positive!!
I wash it twice a day with anti-bacterial soap and clean it up a bit with saline solution and a q-tip. It does sometimes hurt when I use the q-tips which are a definite pain in the ass because of my small face but it is definitely all worth it! An when you're washing it with the soap, watch that it doesn't get in your eyes – its not fun, trust me.
Aside from anything else, I would totally recommend this piercing to anyone, its fun to have! I often get questions like "Can you see those balls with your eyes? Does it make you go cross eyed?" I can only really see the balls when the light is shining on them and they are reflecting it, and no it does not make me go cross eyed. And the piercing goes through the skin in front of the bone, not the actual bone itself, mind you, that would actually be pretty cool, but a hell of a lot more painful.
I love my bridge so much and I'm definitely glad I got it done, and I get tones of compliments! So come one now, be brave, do it!! YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!!
