It's not that I don't like my body the way it is, it's just that I love the saying that my body is my temple...well, I have never seen a temple unadorned. My parents aren't quite of the same mind that I am. They don't mind a few of the piercings that I have, or am planning to get, but they are strange in the fact that they allow some and consider the others absolute blasphemy of my faith, or should I say their's.
I got my belly button pierced when I was 14 years old, and after that I had "the bug". I was bound and determined to get another piercing, but it was a matter of convincing my parents that I was not harming my body in any way by getting a piercing, but in my own way enhancing it. My mother and I struck a deal, if I wouldn't ask her for more piercings, then she would allow me to get my eyebrow pierced. That was all I needed in order to go into a frenzy of looking for a piercer that I could trust with my eyebrow. I wanted somewhere clean and friendly. I found those criteria in a newly opened shop called Aggression Studios.
I had only been in one other piercing place before this, and this was a far cry from the place that I'd had my belly button pierced in. This place seemed so warm and alive. The piercers immediately said hello, and asked what I needed. I told them that I was there to check the place out. They showed me their piercing room and the place where they autoclaved all of the jewelry. By the time I left I was determined to have my eyebrow pierced at this studio. There would be no stopping me from this point on.
So, me and my dad headed home to inform my mom of the conditions of this place and she agreed to let me get the piercing done the next day after school. That was the longest night of my life, I don't believe I slept at all. The next day, I called my best friend and had him accompany me to get pierced. He had decided on getting a horizontal eyebrow on the same eye as mine. I was so happy that I wasn't going alone. My dad was with me, yes, but it was much better that I wasn't the only one getting a needle shoved through their eyebrow.
We arrived at Aggression Studios and we were immediately greeted by the same people I had met before. I let my friend go first. He is 18,and therefore had less paperwork and parental permission slips to fill out.Steve, the piercer, led him back to the little piercing room, and I was allowed to watch. I watched as steve got out sterile packets and put jewelry in the autoclave. By this time I was soooo incredibly nervous. But that was over after I watched my best friend expression while getting his piercing. The piercing itself looked painful, but my friend never flinched.
Next it was my turn. I hopped into the dentist like chair and watched as Steve placed all of the tools in sterile packets on the counter beside me. I thought I was going to pass out when I saw those forceps.Breathe...remember to breathe. But nevertheless, I gritted my teeth and watched as steve marked my eyebrow. He then asked me if this was where I wanted it. In a slight slant towards the outside of my eye. It was perfect. The next part went so fast. I saw the forceps go on, the needle come out, and then I heard Steve say "On the count Of three. One...Three." I felt the needle slide through. It didn't hurt, it just felt really odd to have a cold piece of metal in my eyebrow. Next came the putting in of the jewelry. This was a bit more difficult than than the actual piercing, because I had chosen a microbar, and the balls were really hard to get on,so there was a little extra pushing and pulling. But after that I felt a slight throbbing, and then, nothing.
Steve explained the aftercare both to me and my friend as we had much the same type of piercing, dial soap, two to three times a day until it's healed. Which worked for me, because I'm very low maintenance type person. After that we left and I went home scrubbed off all of the blood, there really wasn't that much, and fell in love with the mirror. It has since healed and I wouldn't trade my eyebrow piercing for anything. To anyone considering this piercing, go for it. It's the minimal of pain and it's absolutely awesome.
