Okay maybe I'm lying when I say it was totally painless. All piercings hurt, no doubt about that but this didn't hurt as much as my lip. Sure this piercing is pretty cool but I'm kind of "iffy" about it. I dont think it suits me that much but we'll see what happens.

My first piercing were my ears when I was about 7 but I took them out because being a tom-boy and all, I thought they looked so girly. And besides, they were on the verge of getting infected. My next experience was when I was 15 and I got my lip pierced at Experience the Beauty piercing salon. This place has been my favorite for a long time because my sisters have gone there to get their piercings done and they knew Jason (the piercer) well enough. Too bad the place is closed now because his evil ex wife ruined everything! My third experience was a few weeks ago when I pierced my ears myself. I know self piercing is dangerous and unhygenic but I would feel kind of weird going to a piercing salon because ears are the kind of piercing that you get as a wee one and I already handled it before so I thought, "what the hell". I got a large sewing needle about 14g, sterilized it, lubed it, corked it and there were my pierced ears.

Then here I am now, fourth experience which was my bridge. It started with my affection for anti-eyebrow piercings. I loved them and still do but I discovered that there's a good chance of heavy scarring so I canceled that thought and went to either my septum or my bridge. My friends talked me out of piercing my septum because it supposedly makes you "look like a bull". Personally I still like the thought of a pierced septum but I'll have to get it later on in life. So it came down to a bridge piercing. I wanted to go to Experience the Beauty so badly but that's when I found out he wasn't there anymore :( so I went to The crypt and made the appointment for the next day.

I guess I didn't exactly give this much thought which I regret but what's done is done. I went to The Crypt (which is also a goth clothing store, very very nice stuff there) and talked to Kristian. Now, this guy looked so cool, he had a blue-gray contact in one eye and his other eye was pure black. He had several large gauge rings in his septum, 2 bridge, and many many ear piercings. He looked awesome.

He brought me to the back of the store and told me the whole procedure. One thing that really bugged me was that people assume that this place is dirty but it's actually a clean place, the room just looks scary because it's supposed to be like that. I do recomend The crypt because Kristian knows what he's doing. Anyway, he showed me that the tools and jewlery that were in the packages which means that it's been in the audioclave and that the needles are always thrown away after 1 use. He got me to stand up so he could mark where he was going to pierce. Marking is extremly hard for bridge piercings because if you get it the slightest little bit off, it'll be crooked and look silly. But after a few tries marking, he got it dead on and we were ready to go.

He put on the clamp which did hurt a bit and I closed my eyes. He said, "whenever you're ready" and I said okay. Then he told me to take a deep breath and then the needle just slid in with no trouble. He put in the jewlery and it was done.

On my way out he gave me a paper, which said salt water soaks were best and to drink lots of pineapple juice (a natural anti inflament). I found that salt water soaks weren't all that great so I stuck with anti-bacterial soap instead.

When I got home, I was getting a little nervous because I thought it looked a little crooked but my sisters kept reasurring me that it wasn't crooked and it looked fine. I was also not sure if I wanted to keep this piercing because I didn't think it suited me but I kept it and I dont regret getting this done one bit.

Its been a few weeks later and it's going great. It doesn't hurt and it feels like theres an extra bone in my bridge because of the barbell. In my experience, this piercing was the easiest to maintain and doesn't hurt at all. Anyway, I suggest this piercing to those who have a low pain tolerence or want a piercing that isn't trendy (like bellybuttons). Happy piercing!
