So as I was considering the possibilities of what I was to do with the money I had earned from a couple of tax returns I had recieved... until I finally decided on the beloved vertical bridge. I had wanted it for quite some time, so since I finally had a bit of cash and a reason to make my forehead pretty, I figured why not.

It took me quite a while to find a decent shop in my area, considering there were only four in my small town, two of which were owned by pedophiles. The others I was not too familiar with, so I proceeded to check them both out... not discovering very good results. The staff had seemed slightly rude, uneducated, and the putrid smell of cigarettes streamed through the air as I had walked in.

Not being impressed, I wandered over to the city next to mine the next day, where there was a much wider selection of shops to choose from. After a while, I was recommended by a couple of friends to a small studio located on the outskirts of the city. It think it was a Saturday when I went to go check it out. It seemed friendly and sterile. Satisfied with the results, I simply made an appointment for the following weekend.

It was a rainy Saturday afternoon, and I was not in a good mood since I had missed my train and had ended up late for my appointment. I had to wait about forty minutes, so I filled out a couple forms... age, address, health etc. My piercer was a real friendly girl, probably about 20 or so. I was impressed because my first impression of her was "Wow, this one actually seems intelligent". She lead me to a small area towards the back which was quite secluded and quiet. My boyfriend had decided to tag along. I was sat in a very comfortable chair, while she went over the risks and aftercare for me. I watched as she opened all the equipment from separate packages, and then proceeded to clean a small area on my forehead. She handed me a mirror and asked where I would like the placement of the jewelry. Once I had decided on my desired spot, she marked it and handed me the mirror again just to make sure I thought it was accurate. Then finally she clamped me, quite tightly actually, since my skin was incredibly tough. As the needle penetrated through the top of my skin, through to the bottom, there was not much more than a small prick of pain. I was now in a good mood. During the whole procedure she was talking me through it, explaining what she was doing at that exact moment. She finally fed the jewelry through, and bent up the ends of the bar with tiny pliers. No pain after that whatsoever. Once it was done, she cleaned it and handed me the mirror. Both her and I were quite impressed with the results. I was definately happy with my vertical bridge.

I walked to the counter and paid, took a business card for future reference, joined the piercer outside for a cigarette, and went home to take a shower.

The first thing I did when I got home was clean the freshly pierced area with a mild anti-bacterial soap I had used in the past with my other piercings. I felt that it worked quite well on my body, so I have basically used it for almost everything. A few days later, a bit of dry skin did form around the area, but that soon went away after a few weeks. Altogether, the healing process took about two and a half weeks. I was very impressed with the placement and the end result of the piercing.

It has been about half a year since I have gotten it, and I am still very pleased with it. It is fully healed now and I am considering getting my horizontal bridge done again to go along with it. I think this piercing is very interesting and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a slight change.

A couple of things that I, personally, would recommend to consider before trusting random shops in your neighbourhood:

1. Be a critic. Check for cleanliness, prices, knowledge etc.

2. Bring someone to judge with you. Sometimes other opinions will give you more of a broad horizon on things.

3. Avoid pedophiles. This is a problem that I have had to deal with in a few shops in my town. It may seem insignificant but it could happen.

4. Make sure you are being talked to like the civil human being that you are, and not getting ripped off.

5. Enjoy your vertical bridge... is has got to be one of my most beloved and favourite piercings so far.
