I've always wanted an anti-brow piercing, more than any other piercing, after I saw it on BMEzine. I begged my parents until they finally gave up with trying to persuade me otherwise. First I went to a place closer to where I live, my sister went to get a tattoo, but they refused to pierce me because I was under 16. This made me a bit angry considering I knew some people whom gotten their eyebrows, ect. at the age of 14 and up. I decided to look into it further.
At A Glance Author Pygmy Contact macabresunshine@yahoo.com When It just happened Artist Nicki Studio White Tiger Tattoos and piercings Location Akron, Ohio I found White Tiger Tattoos by luck. I was scanning the Yellow pages and found a big ad, showing a website. Being not much of a people person, preferring email and websites over phones, I decided to check it out. Although the website wasn't very professional, I found that never judge a book by its cover. All the information and pictures were informative and I new, when I saw that piercings start from 14 and up, that this was the place to go to.
I got directions and emailed Nicki about some necessary information (Like the fact that I didn't have an ID and if I could use a passport instead, and If she was familiar with anti-brow piercings because I don't want someone who isn't informed sticking needles in my face.) She emailed me back (Which also was lucky she even read my mail as you'll read soon) and gave me an estimate of the cost. I was very excited and after two days of impatiently waiting I finally found time to go. We drove for a good half hour before reaching the grungy street it was on. I immediately recognized the studio from the picture on the website.
I walked in and saw Gypsy, the owner, going over some ideas for a tattoo with some woman. After he was done he asked me what I was there for, I explained I was here for a piercing so he called on Nicki, the head piercer. After finishing up someone's tongue piercing she came to see what I wanted done. I told her I was the one who emailed her and she remembered exactly what I wanted. She told me that I was lucky that she got to her mail when she did, because she usually never checks it. After filling out several forms of paperwork (actually my mom did) and After Nicki asked me weird but necessary questions I was ready to go. My mom, ran out of the studio to check out an antique store next door, I thought "great, She ditches me."
Nicki then took me to find the jewelry I wanted and I picked a 16 gauge curved barbell with magenta spikes. She led me to a back room where she had already sanitized the jewelry and workplace. She told me to sit on a chair while she got everything ready. She disinfected my skin with iodine and something else and She then proceeded to poke, prod, and pull at my face with the clamps, buy then my stomach was turning because it was my first piercing and thinking
"Oh man, if the clamp hurts this much, imagine how much the needle hurts!" She told me that she was trying to find a nerve, so she didn't poke through it. She told Gypsy how to find it, she described it as "Like when you pull on a piece of steak with cartilage in it, it feels rubbery, and that's what you look for." He wasn't too interested and just told her that she was in charge of the piercings.
When she found a spot she asked me if I wanted it there, and I said yes, she then marked it and fastened the clamp. She explained to me I needed to close my eyes for the entire thing, so I did, but not with very much skill. I then heard her going to the table and grabbing the needle. I felt a weird pinch (I don't know how to explain it) and I could feel the needle. I was like
"WOW! That didn't hurt at all!"
She told me to keep my eyes closed, and I tried, although at this point it was REALLY hard because I was anxious to see this new hole in my face. She pulled the needle out and replaced it (after wiping the blood off of it) with my barbell. I then opened my eyes to see the mirror in front of my face.
"Ya like it?" she asked. I just grinned; I couldn't believe I actually got a piercing. She placed a band aid over it (health board rules) and I was able to leave (after of course, she explained the after care). I immediately went to Kmart and bought some stuff to take care of my new piercing. I was so surprised how much it didn't hurt, swell up or turn red. I couldn't even feel it after a day. After I was driving home I remember thinking to myself. "Man, I have to wait 3 more years to get another one... I CANT WAIT THAT LONG!" and all the way home I thought up more schemes to get my parents to let me get more piercings.
