Well it was a typically cold day about 3 years ago in the Milwaukee metro area and my girlfriend at the time were quite bored so we decided to hope in the car, drive down to Jade Dragon in Chicago and get our eyebrows pierced. I had heard good things about the Jade Dragon and from what I had heard it was well respected so I thought it was worth the drive.... well it might have been, but I don't think so.

After what seemed like an eternity (really about and hour and a half) we arrived at the shop. Let me back up for a second: (Ok before going to this shop I looked up there website and checked on prices and what not and it said and eyebrow was $35, kind of pricey but if they are good it's worth it) ok now to continue: We walk into the shop and there are a few bigger tattooed and pierced guys there and at the time I wasn't as comfortable in studios as I am now, so I was kind of intimidated. But we looked at jewelry a bit and then said that what we wanted, and the guy was like ok that'll be $65 per person!!!!!!!! It was about at this time that I felt a weird tickle in my colon and then a feces-covered kitten crawled out the bottom of my pants leg and ran out the door. I couldn't believe it, $35 for the jewelry and $30 for the piercing, quite ridiculous but I agreed to it cause the opportunity cost was there, we drove 1.5 hours, really wanted it done, and wanted a quality job done so I shelled out the loot.
Since that pretty much busted us of money we just picked standard old 16ga CBRs. While we were waiting for the pierces to get ready I decided to pee before I got it done, well I did my business, came out and my g/f was already called back to get hers done, well so much for the kissy-poo and good luck and what not so off I do to meet up with the guy that's doing my eyebrow. I get back there and he introduces himself as, well I forget but we'll call him Pierce, and he tell me to take a seat (in what looks very much like one in a hair studio). He then gets out the liability/consent paper and asks me all the stuff but never asked for an ID, and why did I pay before I was asked if I was of age? Rather shady if you ask me. So far they had been shady about the price and the age verification, not a good batting average but I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, mainly cause I was ignorant.
My luck started to change and things only got better from there. He asked what eyebrow I wanted done and I said right and then he said ok point to it, I was thinking this guy doesn't know his left from his right, but then he explained it was because some people don't know their left from their right and get the wrong one pierced (oops). So that set my mind at ease as he reclined the chair to about a 45-degree angle and got out the marker and marked me up. After he was done marking he grabbed a mirror and let me look, it looked good so I said go for it. The next minute or so seemed to be nearly endless as he got out the clap and needle and other things. After he's all set up he explains to me what he is going to do and told me how to do relaxation breathing, explaining that when I exhale the 3rd time he's going to push the needle through. One.... getting nervous...two.... thinking maybe this wasn't the best idea...three...that's it? That didn't hurt at all!! The only thing that really hurt was putting in the CBR but it was still pretty low on pain, so I was happy that everyone that told me it's hurts were just pussies, just kidding.
So overall it wasn't really bad except for the way overpriced work, but you'll have that in Chicago. In fact, I liked how it looked so much that I had a second one put right behind that one less than a year later in Milwaukee.
Now lets fast forward to today, Friday the 13th, 2002: After a long time of fighting to not have my double eyebrow looking like crap, I decided to retire it and move on, I had tried everything to keep them looking nice and nothing worked, very sad, but oh well at least now it will be easier to pluck my eyebrows, those damn CBRs really got in the way.
