I recently had my eyebrow pierced at a local tattoo and piercing studio. I have wanted this piercing for quite some time (actually, I have been debating whether or not to get one for quite some time!) I finally decided to make the plunge and get it done. My friend and I decided we would go together, I guess for moral support or something- or because we both knew we would not be "Woman enough" to go by ourselves.

We left the college that we attend at around 11:00 AM and headed for the studio. Little did we realize that it didn't open until 12:00PM. When we arrived and saw the sign, we obviously had to figure out how to kill some time. I think the waiting was what made me more nervous than anything. It ended up that we went for lunch at a Chinese food place. Needless to say neither of us could really eat anything- nerves I guess.

After our lunch we headed back to the tattoo and piercing parlor. We both "chickened out" and I decided I would get another tattoo instead. After my tattoo was done we went out for coffee at the Tim Horton's.

After sucking back our Ice Cappuccinos we decided to give it another try. So like two fools we walked back to the tattoo and piercing studio. We must have looked pretty pathetic, but I guess they must be used to it because they were very understanding. The piercing guy reassured us that it didn't hurt and that we would be fine. I had to take his word for it because he had piercings and tattoos. Why would he lie to prospective customers, it is not a good business practice. My friend said she wanted to go first otherwise she would chicken out again. I couldn't argue to that as I was hoping she would go first anyways- teehee.

Kurtis- The piercing guy, took us both to his piercing area and let us pick which size of CBR we wanted. He suggested that we get the 14 gauge as that is the most commonly sold size. We agreed and let him get ready for the procedure. He opened all the equipment in front of us, which I must say was nerve- racking for me- mostly because of the piercing needle! It looked very scary. My heart began to race uncontrollably.

He sat my friend in the chair to calm her down while he sterilized the CBR and put on his gloves. He got her to stand up so he could sterilize the piercing area on her eyebrow. He then place two marks one on top and one below where the piercing would be located. He asked her if it looked ok there and if she was sure that was the exact place that she wanted it. It looked perfect we both agreed. He sat her down in the chair again and reclined it back. He grabbed a clamp and placed it on her eyebrow. He shone a flashlight to the area that was to be pierced and then picked up the needle. He told her to take a deep breath in then out, then in then out and on the third in he pierced her eyebrow. It was very quick and she didn't scream. That was comforting. He placed the CBR in the piercing and closed it with some piercing pliers. It looked amazing, but now I was scared! It was my turn...

When he left the room for a moment I begged her to be completely honest with me as to whether or not it hurt. She swore on her life that it didn't hurt that bad. She admitted that it hurt a little bit, but that it was so quick that it wasn't anything to complain about. I still felt unbelievably nervous. Especially when he came back into the room and asked if I was ready. I stalled for a second then said I was.

I sat in the chair while I waited for him to get the equipment ready. He opened all new things. He sterilized my eyebrow while I made some lame joke about me not plucking my eyebrows because I am such a wuss. He joked around and said that he couldn't pierce me because I was too hairy! I can't even remember if I laughed because I was so nervous. He marked my eyebrow and asked if it was where I wanted it. I agreed and then sat in the chair. I was ok until he reclined the chair... then I could feel my heart beating out of my chest. I tried not to think about it, but I mean how can you not? He placed the clamp on my eyebrow, which I must say HURT! Probably only because I was so tense. He shone a flashlight on the piercing area. I am not 100% sure what that was about, but I am guessing it is to see if there are any veins? Well he then told me to take a deep breath in, then out, then in, then out, then he told me on my next breath he was going to pierce me. I breathed in and he di d it. It was soooooo quick. I felt it, but honestly it really didn't hurt that bad. I think it is because the needle is so sharp that it just glides right through.

He glided the CBR through the piercing with the piercing needle and tightened it with the pliers. It felt really odd having it pulled through, and I was anxious to see my new modification. While I was laying there he asked me what kind of music I like and he told me some of his favourite bands. It was a pleasant experience.

When he was done tightening the CBR I got up and he joked around some more about my friend and I being babies. I agreed and laughed. I really am a baby. All in all though, I would not hesitate to recommend someone to get an eyebrow ring. I love mine, every mirror I pass by I look at it. I have become pretty vain.

We left the studio with a lot of adrenaline. I felt so alive. Please, if anyone out there is very apprehensive about getting your eyebrow pierced, don't be. I feel like a fool for being so nervous. It was nothing to worry about. Actually I am thinking about getting it pierced again right beside the one I have already!
