Ever since I was 10 years old I was fascinated with eyebrow rings. I saw all the older kids with them and it really made me want one every time I saw them. I began to seriously think about it when I was about 14, but I never really felt like acting upon it. I thought about it a lot because I am a Hockey player and I figured that it would be very difficult to play hockey with the piercing. I later talked to one of my friends, Adam, who has an eyebrow ring and plays hockey. He told me that he has no problems with it when he plays. That was all I needed to hear!

I made the final decision that I was going to get my eyebrow pierced. However, I figured if I was going to do this, I'd need to discuss it with the folks. I began by mentioning it to my Mother. Surprisingly enough, she didn't put up an argument! She let me know that she wasn't exactly thrilled with the idea of me getting it, but she told me that she was OK with it because "I am old enough to decide what I want." Phew! I was glad that part was over. I was very happy with how smooth it went because I was expecting a big argument ending up with me being pissed off because I couldn't get it. But anyway...

I told my best-friend Jay that I was getting it done real soon. He thought it was gonna be really cool and asked me if he could come along with me because he wanted to get a lip ring. I told him "Yeah, no problem!" So, we made plans to go out and get our piercings! Jay's mom actually made the appointments for us a few days later and we were set to go!

I was home alone during most of the day we were planning on going, hanging out with my girlfriend. Jay came over and asked me if I was ready to go. I told him I needed to wait a few minutes because my mom wasn't home from work yet, and she needed to give me the forms and notarized letter. He told me he would meet me at the studio (Artful Ink) and left to head over there. Shortly after that, Mom came home and took me and my girlfriend Michelle over there to meet Jay. I really wasn't nervous until we were finally in the car on our way there. I began to think to myself... "Shit, this is it!" I got pretty nervous but I knew I would be ok. When we got to the studio, which is right around the corner from my house, I saw Jay standing in the parking lot. I got out of the car and me and him walked to the studio. Michelle hung back with my mom for a while. After about 10 minutes Me, Jay, Michelle, and our parents were all sitting on the couches in Artful Ink. Me and Jay lo oked at each other and we were both really getting nervous and uneasy, but I guess that is expected. A couple of men were getting tattoos at the moment so we had to wait.

Finally, a lady gave us the forms to fill out, which we did immediately, and then told one of us to come to the back of the studio. I decided to go first. Now I was extremely nervous... I sat in the chair and introduced myself to my piercer (whose name I never got!) She was very nice and made me feel a lot better about my piercing. I told her I wanted my right eyebrow done. She nodded, and began to prepare me. She took some iodine, put it on a cotton ball, and wiped off my eyebrow, disinfecting it and making it extremely clean. She put the clamps on me... which I didn't even feel! She told me to take a deep breath in and exhale. As I exhaled, she pierced me. As she was piercing me, I said to myself, "Jesus, I was nervous about this?!" It was absolutely nothing!! A little pressure if anything and you can't even really classify it as 'pain'! She put my jewelry in, which was a hoop, not a barbell. That, also, was completely painless! She told me how to take care o f it – the usual sea salt soaks and wash it with disinfectant soap, all 2-3 times a day. Then she handed me an aftercare sheet. I couldn't believe it. I had actually gotten my eyebrow pierced! I walked back into the waiting area and Michelle and Jay greeted me. Michelle told me it looked so hot! :) Now it was Jay's turn. He went back and went through all the preparation that I did, and he also had the same piercer as me. Before I knew it, he was back with his new lip ring! We paid our piercer and gave her a good tip. Jay headed home with his Mom and me & Michelle did the same. I was so happy I had finally done it!

I definitely recommend this piercing to anyone who is considering it. The entire procedure is absolutely nothing to worry about. The piercing did NOT hurt in the slightest bit, and so far I have had no problems with aftercare. I have bumped the ring a few times which isn't too pleasant :( But I can deal with it.
