I actually got it pierced! My long awaited wish actually came true! I finally got my eyebrow pierced. Now some may be thinking, 'God, you only got your eyebrow pierced. Most people have more extreme piercings that just your eyebrow'. That also may be true, but there comes a point in one's life when they say, 'Nope, I don't really care what people think'. Getting my eyebrow pierced enhanced my confidence and ability to walk with my head held high, showing off my piercing. But it is at this point I begin to think, 'Did I get this piercing to show it off to others and to make them see that I am a strong person, or did I get this piercing to make myself see that I am indeed a strong individual?' There was a point where I did it to make others see I am more than what they think I am, but then I realised that I shouldn't have to make others see anything, I need only to prove to myself that I am a tough girl!
At A Glance Author Lauren Contact drowning_in_ur_spit@hotmail.com When Three months ago Artist Natasha Location Australia I only had my top ear lobe and navel pierced before I got my eyebrow done for Christmas. Before I had it pierced my life was very complicated and I just felt as though existing instead of actually living was killing me more and more each day. I had been cutting myself for about a year before my parents finally found out, telling them caused me more and more distress. I began to smoke and my happy attitude began to sink. My parents always knew I was moody as a child but never did they think that I would hurt myself the way I did. My parents also eventually found out that I smoke, that made them so pissed off and I was sure that I would never get that eyebrow ring I always wanted. But to my amazement, three days had passed since my parents found out and I was off to the piercing parlour under one condition...that I give up smoking. 'Ha, yeah sure Mum, I won't touch a cigarette ever again.' He he...
I went with my oldest sister, Tammy to get my eye brow pierced. She almost fainted when I got my navel pierced, god knows how she could stand there and watch a needle go through my eyebrow!
I walked nervously to the front counter and told them what I would like pierced. Then the chick who pierced my navel led me up the stairs to a fairly small room that had a mini-bed. Her name is Natasha. She was really friendly and had a positive attitude; she also had her labret pierced! (Which I am getting pierced next!)
I sat there on the bed, sitting still as though I were in a trance. I picked out the jewellery; I had chosen a silver barbell with two small silver spikes on each end. Then the usual standard procedure occurred, Natasha placed her gloves on and began. To be totally honest I cannot tell you what happened next for the following reason... I had my eyes closed tight during the whole thing! All I was aware off was the pain I was causing to my sister's hand for holding it too tight and a slight sting from the needle when it came in contact with my eyebrow. I would have to say that placing the jewellery in caused me more pain than anything! I then actually had the strength to look in the mirror; I liked what I saw though I feel I could have told her to make the pen marking a little more onto my eyebrow.
The only thing I was not satisfied with was the fact that Natasha did not give me any aftercare tips. Even though I was pretty certain of what to put on it I felt as though she could have told me.
The healing of my eyebrow stressed me out! I found that small bumps were becoming visible near my left eyebrow and then the worst happened.
I have had my eyebrow ring for about three months now, but about two weeks a go I realised one of the silver spikes had fallen off. I panicked, but all was well when my mum took me to Natasha and she placed a blue spike on it, that cost five dollars...a rip off if you ask me.
If I could give the people who want an eyebrow ring any advice it would be...
CLEAN it WELL. I made the big mistake in not giving it as much of attention that it needs.
Ha, my dad wouldn't even look at me when I came back home from the piercing parlour. He still gives me weird looks and says that I'm just ruining my 'beautiful' face. Hm, I doubt it. There is nothing really to ruin anyway! It's pretty funny though, he didn't want me to get my eyebrow pierced but in a few weeks he is allowing me to get my labret done! Pretty weird huh?
In conclusion, I still love my eyebrow ring regardless and if you want to get it pierced go for it. I believe you only live once and if you begin listening to those ignorant people that say piercing's are for freaks then your not exactly living your life...your living someone else's.
