I had wanted an eyebrow piercing for quite some time. On my 18th birthday, I was going to go get it done when my sister got her nose pierced. I kept asking around asking a few men and women what they thought about an eyebrow piercing. I ended up getting too many negative responses. One response was, "I think it will look like crap." So the time came and I didn't get it done. I waited for almost a year and even more so, I wanted that eyebrow piercing. Finally, I built up the nerve to go and get it done no matter what anyone thought. I ended up choosing Irezumi Body Art because they are one of the most clean and sterile tattoo and piercing studios I have been to, not to mention, they did a great job on my sister's nose piercing.

I walked in to Irezumi Body Art, signed some papers, and waited for the piercer lady to get there. When she arrived, she took me back into a little room and shut the door. She asked me approximately where I wanted the ring and I told her. She squeezed that area of my eyebrow and messed around with it, squeezing it for a little bit to get the right amount of skin within her grip. She used a sizer and marked the areas on my eyebrow where the needle would go through.

Next, she put a clamp on my eyebrow and lined up the dots that were marked on my eyebrow. Next, she took a brand new sterile needle out of the package that it came from and stuck it right through my eyebrow. It shocked me a little because it didn't hurt when she did it. Although when she put the 16 gauge ring into my eyebrow it became a little sore. It bled a little but not much. Throughout the whole experience, it only really started hurting about 5 minutes after the procedure was complete. And it didn't hurt that much, it just stung a little. Overall, it was quite quick and easy. I was told that an eyebrow piercing is the next easiest after an earlobe. A little useful information I thought.

The healing process wasn't too bad at all. I was told to NOT touch my eyebrow ring nor let my hair continually touch it and such. Basically, when you get a piercing, ESPECIALLY when it is healing, DO NOT let ANYTHING touch your ring or piercing unless it is soap. And the soap that seems to work the best is Dial Antibacterial soap.

It was a little difficult for me to clean my piercing the first few times because my eyebrow was so tender and it almost made me want to vomit at the thought of turning the ring. I was advised that I need to clean my piercing twice a day, but not much more than that because there IS such a thing as overcleaning your piercing. I ended up cleaning my piercing every night and every morning. Also, to make sure that your skin doesn't stick and grow to your piercing, you need to make sure to turn the jewelry every day.

This is how I cleaned my piercing:

*First, and most importantly, I would wash my hands with soap so that I could touch my ring in order to turn it and clean it.

*Second, I would get a cotton swab, wet it with water, and put a little Dial Antibacterial soap on it.

*Third, I would fill a little glass to the rim with water and dip my eyebrow into it (sounds a little difficult, yes, but it can be done.)

*Fourth, now that my piercing area was wet, I would clean my eyebrow , with the cotton swab, where the jewelry came out at both spots.

*Fifth, I would turn the jewelry and clean it also with the cotton swab

*Sixth, I would dip my eyebrow back into the glass of water to clean off the soap

*Seventh, I would turn the jewelry again and dip my eyebrow into the water again to clean off as much soap as I can

*Lastly, i would dry off my eyebrow and around my piercing area with a clean tissue.

My piercing itches at times too. And sometimes it is a little red and sore because I end up sleeping on that side of my face. The soreness accured because, just like mentioned above, you are not supposed to let things touch it (if you can help it).

Fortunately, after my acquaintances saw my new addition, I got positive responses! Mainly everyone either said that it looks good on me or that they think it is cute. I personally love my piercing. It adds character. Before I was a little dull, but now, I have that certain spark.
