I had my 1st eyebrow piercing done on 2nd, July, 2000 at Prahran Pharmacy, Melbourne . I am an overseas student from Hong Kong and that day was the very first time I got here. After I got everything settled, I headed to China Town with my friend and grab some lunch. Then the idea of having my eyebrow done got into my head. I've been a frequent visitor to this site since 15. I have been introduced to the world of body mod by all those Funky Japanese Rock/Indie bands. But my friend didn't even know what's an eyebrow piercing so I reckon I've to hunt for some Piercing Studios myself.
A couple of hours later, I spotted this pharmacy with a huge picture of a naked girl with rings poked on various part of her body, and a huge banner saying " Body Piercing and Jewellery available". Then I went in there and asked for the price etc...... The lady said I've to made an appointment since they've to autoclave the jewellery. I was very disappointed since I want it done on the spot. Anyway I've made an appointment a week later at 2 pm, then I left. As I was strolling along Chapel Street, the lady at the pharmacy called and asked whether I would like to have it done since the girl who was supposed to have an appointment that time chickened out, so they've got a spared autocloved jewellery . I went there and Dianne, the piercer told me to lay down on the dentist chair. I told her I wanted to have my right eyebrow done. She asked me to close my eyes as she cleaned the area. I was so nervous since that room is multi-purposed, they're all sorts of equipments for facials, massage, aroma therapy etc..... as stupid as me, I thought they're for piercings and I thought she might drill a hole or sth thru my eyebrow. After that, she put on the clamps and stuck the needle thru the skin. It hurt like hell !! It really did. Then she calmed me down and cleaned the area. I paid for it and left. It was severely swollen and the pain lasted for 3 HOURS !!!! I'm not kidding, it did lasted for 3 hours and my head was aching ......But it turned out fine with no problems at all. Then after 3 months I went to the Piercing Urge to have it changed to a barbell since it's less likely to get hit then a CBR.
Everything was fine until I went back to Hong Kong for Christmas. My friend said this solution was really good for keloids since there's a nasty one next to my Tragus, so I gave it a go and it's fabulous. Then I guess it might be good for my eyebrow too , so I kept putting it on my eyebrow for a week then I noticed the skin around the CBR got thinner and thinner, until it actually fell out on my Birthday, while I was washing my face after I got out of bed !!!!! I was so pissed that I went straight to a local piercer to have it done again. She said she's not going to do it since I should wait for at least 3 weeks for the wound to completely heal. And she's actually against eyebrow piercings, especially on girls since they'll grow out anyway and leave a nasty scar.
8th Jan,2001. I'm back to Melbourne and eager to get my eyebrow done again. I went straight to The Piercing Urge and have it done on the same spot, behind the scar tissue. This time was less painful then the 1st time, and I've my Labret done as well. Sadly my eyebrow piece grew out within 2 weeks, I went back there for them to took it out for me and see what we can do about it. After a bit of chatting with my piercer, I decided that I'll have it done on the other side, this time didn't hurt at all, no swelling etc. It lasted for 4 months until it grew out and again, it left a nasty scar. I've no idea why it grew out the 2 nd and 3rd time since it went so well the 1st time.
Though it grew out a couple of times, I've no regrets at all. I'm proud of those 2 scars, they remind me of my eyebrow piercings, and all the wonderful times/comments I have with them. My parents, especially my mother, is mad about the scars, and even more mad at my tattoos ( that's another story ) . Though I had a fabulous experience with all my eyebrow piercings, I strongly recommend anyone who wanted to get this done THINK carefully/thoroughly before you do anything to your eyebrows, since it WILL grow out anyway, it might be 1 week, or 30 yrs, and definitely will leave a scar that you might not want. But if you're sure that you definitely want it done, go ahead and make sure you do lots of research and go to a experienced/reputable piercer. Enjoy !!
