It all started while looking on BME for a new piercing I might like. Looking around, I came across an orbital, I thought it was rad, and a couple of days later I was pulling my mom to the best piercing in Rhode Island, (or so I think) East Coast.Arriving in the store, I felt more nervous than usual when I go to get a piercing. I was informed that Jay Morony was working, he did my industrial, so I knew that he was a great piercer. My mom paid and I signed and all the good junk. Walking into the back room, I got even more nervous, which I found quite strange, but I was also excited, so I didn't think anything of it. So I sat in the big black comfy piercing chair and awaited my piercing.Jay walked in and got set up; he isn't too much of a talker, not like my favorite piercer there, mike, but anyway. Jay talked about his retirement and what he planned on doing for his future, all the while I was getting much more nervous. And then, out came the needles. *DUN DUN DUN!* This is when I started to get really nervous, and then I realized, I never thought about the pain involved with this, my industrial didn't hurt, so why would my orbital?Being numbed up, I was almost shaking, I admitted to Jay that I was quite nervous and he said, "Why's that? You're basically a pro!" Sadly, this did not help me calm down, but the needle was coming closer to my ear, and I heard the preparing words "close your eyes and take and big breath in and out." I could hear the needle coming closer. Then I felt the needle pierce through one side of my cartilage. My eyes started to water, I didn't realize it was going to hurt so much. I felt the needle going through my ear, slowly. Piercing through every layer and through the blood that was held inside. Jay put the ring in, and I thought it was all done, even though it did hurt that bad I said, "Done, already? Wasn't too bad." But little did I know, as I heard a chuckle from my mom, that that was only the first hole. I wanted to cry when I found out. Out came the preparing words from Jay's mouth as I brought air into my body like it was the end of the world. In went the needle, and I felt the pain I felt before. This time around I could feel something cold dripping down my ear, yes my friend, it was blood. I wasn't too surprised, I was actually waiting for the blood part to come sometime or another. The actually piercing was done, now time for a ring and some cleaning. This was not as easy as I thought. It hurt just as much for him to put in a ring and clean. After he was finally finished, he looked to the boy he was training, Steve, and showed him certain things. I felt like a guinea pig. Then, I figured I mine as well listen because I'm going to be a piercer when I get out of high school. He continued to fix the ring and clean, all of a sudden I realized I was shaking when Jay asked, "Are you ok? You're shaking a little" I replied with "Yea...it just, Hurts!!!"With a bit more chit chat, and a handshake, we were out the door, only to come back a week later so I could get my lobe re-pierced (it close while I was trying to stretch it.) Anyway, the healing process was worse than my industrial. Cleaning my orbital hurt just as much as getting it pierced. But, I do clean it every morning and night, sometimes in the afternoon, if I'm home. I got my orbital about two weeks ago, it doesn't hurt too badly anymore, but cleaning is still a big bitch. It bleeds and crusts a lot. So it is hard not to pick at it, but it is one of the worst things you can do. I kind of regret getting my orbital so far up into my cartilage. But, it looks real good, so it's all worth the pain. Like they say, pain is pleasure. My advice to anyone planning on getting an orbital is be prepared, I may be a weakling, but it did hurt me more than I expected. So all I can say, that is if you plan a getting one of this piercings, prepare for the unexpected. And make sure you clean them exactly as directed. Getting infected sucks, and it's defiantly something you don't want to deal with. But in the end, they're cool as hell, and usually look great. I hope you enjoyed my little story.
