I decided I wanted an eyebrow ring about 3 years ago because I wanted a piercing and heard that was a painless one. I thought about it for a few months and one day just decided to go. I'd seen this place at Pembroke mall Curiosities that did piercings, so I went there and said pierce me. They sell a bunch of rocks, skulls, incense and other weird stuff there as well. I had to go with my mom because I needed her to sign for me because I'm under 18. My sister came too just to watch because she was curious (it's funny she has about 8 piercings now). My mom liked the store, I think because she used to be a hippy back in the day. They had my mom sign the form. There was an old hippy looking man in the back smoking and making jewelry, I was surprised because I thought they crucified you if you smoked in the mall!

I had to wait 20 minutes while they pierced someone else, the door was shut so I wasn't sure what that person got. I was getting nervous, wondering if it would be as painless as people said. What if I bled all over and it wouldn't stop? I'd only ever had my ears pierced and that had been about 10 years ago, so I didn't have any memory of it. Then it was my turn. I went in and the guy had me sit in the chair. I looked around It looked pretty clean, they had all those sanitizing things, but the guy looked kinda dirty... He had a stack of cds on top of the stereo and it was all crappy hippy music. There was map with pushpins all over it of where Curiosities shops are located all over the country. That made me feel a little better, if there were so many in business they must not be bad at what they do.. They asked me what size I wanted and they said 18g is the smallest and I didn't want a big hole so I picked that. He clamped the skin around my eyebrow and I closed my eyes... I didn't even know he'd stuck the rod through until I opened my eyes and saw the end of it. It hurt less than getting my ears pierced. My sister and my mom were in the room watching and my sister thought it looked really cool with the rod through my skin. I wish I could have seen it. I also bled a little but he wiped it off and I didn't bleed anymore after that. He took the rod out and stuck the ring through, then he put the ball on the end and it was over. He handed me a sheet with instructions on how to care for my new hole. Then they sent me on my way.

On the way out of the mall it started to hurt a little bit, not serious pain, my eyebrow just didn't feel good. I put the stuff they told me too on it and twisted it everyday and wiped the crust off. It was really gross. It hurt to sleep on it for a week or so. A few weeks later I could tug on it and I didn't feel anything.

After it healed I kept losing the jewelry and eventually I wanted a bar bell. I always had trouble putting the ball on the ends of the ring and my sister had to do it for me. The bar bell has screw on balls and I found that much easier. I checked around here and found no other stores that carried 18g jewelry. So everytime I needed more balls or jewelry I was forced to go to Curiosities. Which was a pain in the ass.

I kept the barbell in for about a year and then I noticed it was starting to grow out. I went to another piercing place and they said I should probably take it out and get the other eyebrow pierced. So I took it out, but by then I was bored with eyebrow rings and never got another one. Now I have an industrial, and my ear lobes pierced. I didn't really like Curiosities so I got it done at Urban X Change whose main thing is piercing. It seems a lot cleaner and I can get jewely for my new holes anywhere. 3 years later I still have a scar from the eyebrow piercing, I'm not sure if that's normal. It's not all that visible unless you are looking for it though. I don't recommend getting pierced at Curiosities, but if you want a painless piercing an eyebrow ring is the way to go.
