Well after having my tongue, labret and navel pierced I was after something a little bit more unusal. So once again I journied back to BME to try and find something that I liked, low and behold I found the Bridge piercing section, after looking at a few pics I decided that I liked the look of it. But when I went to read some expierences I noticed that there weren't a great deal, and that's why I decided to submit my expierence. Well here she goes...

Okay so once I decided on the piercing I wanted and read the very few expierences that there were. I had my heart set on getting my bridge pierced. So I contacted my piercer Jeanette just to make sure that she did this type of piercing. Lucky for me she did. So I made an appointment for three days time, which was a Monday. I managed to con my best friend into coming with me while I had it done because I was somewhat nervous about the whole thing. So, Monday arrived. I made my way into town and met up with my friend, Chantel. We slowly made our way up to see Jeanette. When we finally got there Jeanette told me that she had only done this type of piercing twice before (which didn't at all surprise me considering piercings of this sort are rather rare down here) But that didn't worry me, I trusted her with my body. She told me to take a seat in the big yellow chair (I love that chair, it's so comfy) while she got everything ready. By this stage I was *extremely* nervous and Chantel wasn't helping the situation at all, in fact I probably would have been fine if it wasn't for her lol.

Anyway, it was time to clamp my bridge. Jeanette had these flat edge forceps (I don't know what they're called) and was trying to clamp my skin, but at this stage I had tears running down my face, I wasn't crying, but when something is trying to pinch that part of skin, it tends to bring tears to your eyes. By this stage I was kinda going "oww, ouch, eeek" cause yes, the corners on the forceps were digging into me profously. So Jeanette decided to try these rounded edge forceps (dunno what they're called either) I have to admit they were much better, no sharp corners :P

But still, they bought tears to my eyes, they still hurt soooooo much. (one might say i'm a wuss)

Well I could only assume since I was clamped it was time for the needle. I felt the a little prick (kind of like a fingernail)touch one side of my bridge and that was it. Jeanette then told me it was over. I asked if the jewelry was in and she laughed at me and said yeah. I really couldn't believe that I didn't feel the needle at all. all I could feel were the forceps. I turned to look at Chantel who decided she wanted to watch and she had a mortified look on her face. She just couldn't believe that I was fine. I think she half expected me to burst out into tears. But nevertheless she likes it. (well sorta, she's not a huge fan of piercings)

I was pretty much fine the next day, the only problems I had were slight headaches...but not like a normal headache, more of an Icecream headache, you know that feeling you get when you eat Icecream too fast. But some Aspro Clear took care of that.

In conclusion. Yes this piercing hurts, there isn't alot of skin the to clamp...

But due to that fact, I think that's why I didn't feel the needle. With such lack of skin in that area being clamped that's where all the pain goes.

So if you are considering this piercing I suggest you just go ahead and get it. So what if the forceps hurt? It's what? 1 minute of pain and then it's all over. On the plus side...you probably wont feel the needle. But remember it is different for everyone :)

As for aftercare, all i used was salt water soaks about 3 times a day and a little bit of Tea Tree oil morning and night. And it seems to be healing fine. In case you're wondering, I have now had my bridge pierced for 2 going on three months and I love it to death.

Also since getting my Bridge pierced I have had my tongue pierced twice more, making it a total of 10 piercings (including ears that is)

and i can assure you there will be many, many more!
