Ok, so, some background: I've always been into piercings since I was 9, when I first had my ears done. I think what made me all the more eager was the fact that my mum is so against body piercing apart from normal lobes. She doesn't even let me get my ear cartilage pierced. Well, I have but she got so mad when she saw them and made me take them out. She absolutely hates facial piercings and I know if she finds out about this one, I'm grounded for life!

She encouraged me to go for it but I was really scared (I don't deal with pain that well). Anyway, I was going to do it quite a few times but on the day I would always put it off. I was a) Scared of my mum finding out about it and b) scared of the "pain" itself!
So, one of ma mates, Kim, went and got her tongue pierced 2 weeks ago and I asked her if she could check if they do septum piercings, which they do. So, that made me want to get it even more and so, I decided, I would get it this week or never. It only cost $400 (Hong Kong dollars), which I think, is about $50 (U.S dollars), which included jewelry. This wasn't that bad a price because in Hong Kong, you need to import all the stuff in so I thought it would be a lot more expensive and also, because in Hong Kong, body mod isn't as popular as it is in the U.K or in the U.S so its quite rare to see people with piercings
although, now it had begun to get more accepted and more people have them!
In Hong Kong, you don't really need to make appointments so I was a walk-in and so the whole day today I was getting rather nervous about it a bit at school and everyone was laughing at me and of course I got all the "cow/bull" comments and how it would look bad, but, I didn't give a shit! My mates were going "No! Don't get it! Please don't get it!" and even my ex was saying that he didn't think it would suit me, but the thing is, this piercing is for me and I'm not really out there to please anyone!
When I got to the place and the woman, Tracey, was really really nice! She asked me what I
wanted and I told her that I wanted a septum and that I'd need to be able to hide it from my mum and from school and I said that perhaps a captive ring would be good. She said that perhaps a curved bar would be better, so, I went for that. She showed me all the possible jewelry choices and was really nice in helping me out. I think she could tell I was kind of scared and she gave me as much time as I needed to calm down! She sat me on
the chair and talked me through what she was going to do. She got the needle out and was like "just keep breathing!' and at this point, I was just like "oh, wait, give me a few minutes" and she was absolutely super and just waited for me to calm down.
So, anyway, I was calm enough for her to do it and she said for me to breath in, and I felt the needle go in my septum. It didn't really hurt that much but I could feel it going through my nose, and it was really quite strange! She then put the jewelry in which did hurt quite a bit. It was a sort of burning sensation and I had to ask her for another minute to breath. At one point, when she put the jewelry in, I thought I was going to faint, but I kept taking deep breaths and sat down for a bit.
So, she finished and I went to look in the mirror, and I absolutely love it! I was worried that it was a little crooked but she said if I felt it was, I could train it a bit and if it still healed crooked, then she would re-do if for me, for free.
Overall, I'm really glad I chose to get a septum piercing. No one else at school has one and I love the fact that it can be a secret as its easily hidden! I would definitely say to anyone who wants a septum piercing: just go for it! They are so awesome!
