"Dammit!"
At A Glance Author Rachel Contact Rachel@bme.anon When N/A Artist Erin Studio Adrenaline Location Vancouver that was my reply as my friend Melissa and I stood at the counter of TNT piercing in Surrey. We had made an appointment for both of use to get our septums pierced today and then go downtown to meet our friend Dallas for coffee, buutttt TNT had accidentally booked over us and the next time available was at 3:30pm
(our original appointment was for 11:30 that morning.)
So with dismay we decided to just head downtown and meet our friend, sad that neither of us could make it that late appointment.
So with that, we hop back on the bus back to Kingeorge, and we take the skytrain down to Granville and meet our friend, decide on sushi instead of coffee, and then pitas instead of sushi (but thats not really the point is it.) We grab a bit to eat, and as we're sitting their we have a revelation;
Why dont we just go to Adrenaline?
AWESOME. I love adrenaline.
I had been there once before with a friend to get her tongue pierced, and many other times to look at their clothing. And let me say, it is an AWESOME place. You just get a really good vibe when you walk in. They have a Wicked selection of jewellry (about a whole room full,) and really awesome piercers/tatty artists.
And to top it off, they have lots of cool clothing, belts and bags
(and really hot employees [; )
As soon as we walked in we were greeted by employees and teh place was pretty busy, their actually open until 12pm. Anyways, my friend Melissa and I walk up, sign the sheets and whatnot, and then sit down for a few minutes looking at tattoos until Erin calls us in. Im not really nervous (this was my third piercing in two weeks,) but Im expecting it to hurt like a bitch, like, probably be my most painful peircing.
After We both picked the same CBB small horseshoe, we follow Erin into the big brightly lit room with mirrored walls, and since Iv already decided Im going first, I sit up on the chair and let Erin stick her fingers up my nose to clean and find the "sweet spot."
This was funny as I watched her wiggly her pinkies around in my nose, with a really gross smelling cleaner. Im not really looking down at the little try beside me but I catch a glimpse of the autoclaved and packaged needle, and CBB.
And Apparently my sweet spot is really low, while melissas is very small.
Melissa grabs my hand as she marks it, clamps and tells me to breath in, breath out, and pushes the needle through. Its as if it went through paper! after sitting up and looking in the mirror, Im instantly in love. Its exactly what I want, so cute, and it wasnt
sticking out to far!
Its like good makeup, makes you feel good. It was definatly not at ALL what i expected, didnt hurt one bit! But then my eyes started watering like crazy, and it was just slightly uncomfortable as she put the CBB through. The only pain was how it stung after, but very minimal.
Again Im really surprised about how it didnt hurt!
Then melissa got hers done, it took Erin three times to do it because her septum was so thick, she had to end up pushing really really hard with her thumb to get the needle to go through!
After, giddy and excited that we finally got it done, we go to pay and get free sea salt.
The aftercare is quite simple, do one seasalt soak at night and just clean the crusties off in the morning. The septum heals really quickly, and since both of us have to hide it from our parents, Erin told us to just leave it flipped for now so it wouldnt take as long to heal.
Overall it was an awesome experience, Adrenaline is an amazing shop. If your thinking about getting it done, do it. The pain (for me atleast) was non-existant, and even though I got a lot of negative feedback and comments from people I told I was getting it done, I got this piercing for myself, noone else. If you let your decision sway because of what other people think of it, then dont get it, you obviously dont truly want it.
And with that, Im sitting here (quite smuggly, might I add) with my very cute cute cute septum piercing flipped up, and noone in my house the wiser. Im excited for it to heal so I can wear it down at school, Im actually looking forward to everyones comments. Even though I know more than half of them are going to be negative, I really could care less. I love it, and like I said, I got it for myself, and its sort of one of those piercings (same with your tongue web, since noone will really be seeing it.)
Happy piercing!
