I should start off by saying in my young teenage years I was never fond of piercings or tattoos; and here years later I've had several of each. Still, that thought of the needle entering my body for that split second, piercing the skin, the blood, the guts- well it still gets to me. I know it's over dramatic, but here I was, again, wanting a new piercing.

Those who love piercings gave me a big "HELL YEAH" and those who didn't gave me the "ummmmmm I don't know about that". But my mind was set. I just had to muster up the courage to go into yet another shop to get this one done.
I have moved so many times in the past few years that I've never gotten to really "get used to" a good shop filled with qualified people and cleanliness, two BIG qualifications you are going to want to look at for any body modification you ever do. I spent a lot of time looking on the internet, deciding exactly what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go. I checked out a couple shops, but on a whim the other day I walked into one I had discounted because I didn't care too much about an acquaintance of mine and that's where she goes. Stupid reason I know. Despite that I walked in, looked around, and here walks in this girl with the most gorgeous ear plugs I had ever seen! She was super nice, really talked with me about the piercing and what I wanted exactly. She showed me all my options they had on their nose rings and such and we decided on the one perfect for me.
Here I was, on my birthday, about to get my nose pierced. I was then introduced to the piercer. He was a super nice guy with so many piercings I lost count, a little quiet, so that wasn't greatly comfortable. But, he was still nice. He started to clean my right side of my nose and told me to smile. He took the pen out to mark a spot when he looks at me straight on confusingly and says "wait." Ok, what is he thinking? I'm not sure. "You sure you want it on your right side?" he asked me. Why not? I don't know; so I asked him. He told me he tends to look at my left side more and he thought it would look better. What the hell, why not huh? He told me to lay back, he cleaned the other side, and then told me to close my eyes. I felt him shove something up my nose. There was no counting or any of that nonsense (let's just get this done!) I felt a quick pinch, something going in my nose. VOILA! I'm done. I was so excited that I yelled out "WOW! that didn't hurt at all!" He laughed a little and told me he could make it hurt, haha.
As I walked back into the main room he gave me my instructions on cleaning the piercing, sea salt water soak, clean off the crusties on the outside. All really easy considering other piercings I've had. They gave me a bottle of sea salt spray to use conveniently when I'm out and about. Several days later I've had no redness, no bumps, no pain, and it cleans very very easily. It feels like one of the more natural piercings I've had. I would definitely encourage anyone that wants it to do it. It's so quick and easy, and worth any small amount of pain you might have.
I don't know if courage is a good word, but I am definitely a wuss for the most part. Once I get my mind set to something, I get it all done. It's just getting there that's the hard part. I found out a couple days ago that there was actually a bet going on as to whether I would actually go through with the piercing or not. I guess one of the girls backed out on the deal, but one of my guy friends said I would do it for sure. The loser is supposed to buy McDonalds so I guess we'll see what happens. I'm guessing the girl is going to go back and say she really thought I'd do it haha.
Bottom line is, very little to know pain and it's so quick you won't even notice it. It throbs just a little afterwards, but if you've had your ears done you going to realize those hurt WAY worse than this one does. So go do it!
