Hey...now I know it's hard to believe anything you read on here, because most people are like, "well they're not me! they can probably take pain a lot better!" well NOT ME! I get really worked up over everything and then it's never as bad as I think. For me, reading these stories helped, but I was also like, "Well I bet all these girls are really good at taking pain, and I'm such a big baby!"
At A Glance Author Erin Contact virtualchic17@hotmail.com When It just happened Artist Kelly Studio 454 Tattoo Location Encinitas/San Diego, California I've wanted to pierce my nose for about a year ish, because to be honest (not to sound narcasistic) I really like my nose. I think it's really cute and the perfect shape. So naturally a nose piercing would accentuate one of my better features. I even wrote my persuasive essay on piercing my nose for english! (I got an A by the way...pretty damn good essay if you want I can e-mail it to you to convince your parents *wink wink*) I was sort of iffy about it because so many people in my dance company have nose piercings and I didn't want them to think I was copying them...I treasure my individuality. But anyways, on Wednesday my mom said we could go on Friday, and I got so excited but by the time third period rolled around today I was panicking! I kept telling myself "dont back out, dont back out"
The girl who pierced me was Kelly, when we got to 454 Tattoo she was outside playing with some turtles -- it was really cute.
We went inside and she had me fill out some paperwork, not a lot, I just had to write my name and address and show proof of ID. My mom was more worried that the piercing would be too big. We looked at a bunch of different gems and rings and the one my mom liked was not in the store, but on my brother's girlfriend. She kept commenting how hers is "So tiny and cute". (I still think she thinks mine is too big.) My friend Molly was with me, she had just gotten a tattoo there a few months ago. Kelly got everything ready and called me in. I sat in the little dentist-type chair and leaned my head back. I called Molly over to hold my hand which was already sweaty. Kelly had me clean the inside of my nose with three q-tips with cleaning solution and then she cleaned the outside. She drew a dot with the famous purple marker and asked if it was ok. I told her I trusted her. She told me to relax and put the tube up my nose. I squeezed my eyes shut and held onto Molly's hand for dear life. Kelly told me to just start taking deep breaths and then I could feel when she pierced me, but it was definitely not as bad as I had anticipated! It just felt like a lobe piercing! Then she put in the stud and twisted it into a screw so it rested against the inside of my nostril. The whole process took about seven seconds -- literally! When we asked her how long it would take she said no more than fifteen minutes! I was like wow..um...but I think she meant preparing everything. After reading these stories, people had said that your eyes water and it bleeds, but neither of those happened to me. She handed me a tissue to wipe my eyes but they weren't watery, so I decided to check for blood. Nope. I'm not really a bleeder anyways.
I was still in shock that I had actually done it, and Molly was like, "Well, don't you want to see it?" I was like YA! I looked in the mirror and immediately fell in love! But it still felt unreal, because last year I bought a fake one, just to see how it looked, and I wore it in Vegas for a few days and it kind of reminded me of that...I still can't believe I went through with it!!! My mom didn't seem too pleased with the size of the stud, she had wanted the tiniest little speck. Molly said it was perfect though.
She gave me the aftercare instructions and I thanked her and left. I got my nose done about 45 minutes ago and it's a little bit tender, but then again I just had a needle jammed through my nostril! (don't mean to make that sound scary because it's not) It's a little more sore than a lobe piercing but not as sore as a cartilage piercing. To anyone even considering it, I say GO FOR IT! I'm the biggest baby in the world (hard to believe for all the readers, I know) and it's honestly not that bad! It's a better alternative to piercing yourself...please don't do that -- it's just creepy.
And if you're in the San Diego/Encinitas area, I recommend 454 Tattoo on 101, next to Lou's Records! They're really nice and do an awesome job!!!
