This experience is not so much about myself but of a friend, myself being a spectator. About three months ago myself and my friend Jessica decided it was about time she got her nose pierced. Of course there was some prior thought put into to it but not a lot. We decided to go to Ablaze becuse it was the closest place (mistake #1). So we pull up to the place and find out that it's actually a hair salon, they did aesthetics, etc. as well as body piercing. But we went in anyway only to find they charged just as much as any other place in the city. Jess had already decided she was going to do it and made her appointment (mistake #2). We were told she was busy with another customer. We figured it was someone else who was getting pierced. Wrong, she had been cutting some persons hair. We had heard things about the place nothing good nothing bad really so we were somewhat oblivious to what was waiting within

The lady took us back through the salon, which didn't look bad on the outside, but obviously we were sadly mistaken (mistake #3). We sat down and discussed the jewellery, which was fine but I had a bad feeling about the woman (mistake #4). I being into body modifications a little more so than Jess knew pretty much what to look for, what to be cautious of, and so on. We picked out the jewellery and the lady took us to the room. It was the biggest mess of a room I had ever seen. There was a chair that was obviously used for waxing old hairy women. The floor was dirty and it was nothing that I would even want to guess the origin of. It was dimly lit. Everything nasty and foul you could think of this place was. I just sat there in disgust ready to puck my fucking guts out (mistake #5).
Yet somehow Jess was still determined to get her nose pierced. The lady washed her hands, cleaned Jessica's nose, got out the needle, which was in sterile packaging, and grabbed a clamp and needle nose plyers form the autoclave. She explained the procedure to us quite shabbily (mistake#6). It seemed like I knew what to do more so than she did. My feelings of hate for the place increased. The lady was not calming and really snatchy and loud. She stuck a cork up Jessica's nose and then started doing a bunch of other shit that didn't even have to do with us. About ten minutes later she stopped the other shit grabbed the needle didn't even wash her hands again or bother to worry about cross-contamination (mistake #7). By this time I was shaking my head at Jess and telling her to get the fuck out, but no we stayed (mistake #8). So the lady pirces her nose and I have never seen anyone in such horrible pain. The look on her face made me shudder.
So after that's all done the cunt leaves Jess with a needle and a cork in her nose and walks off to go find something. Finally she comes back, with the jewellery we had chosen, transfers it, grabs the plyers and starts twisting the end of the ring in her nose. She put the plyers in the autoclave and asked me if I thought it was alright. After closely inspecting Jessica's nose I told her the litlle piece of jewllery in her nose wasn't going to stay it would fall out because it was still too straight, which Jess agreed with because she could feel it poking the other side of her nostril. The lady goes back to the autoclave looks for the plyers she had originally used couldn't find them, so she grabbed another pair. She grabbed another pair, who to say what she did with those plyers. Or anything else for that matter. Came back over and twisted the end of the jewllery again. She then proceeded with asking ME if I thought it was enough. I couldn't see Jess g o through anymore said yes and we paid and left.
Obviously there are people out there trying to pass themselves off as professional body piercers to make a quick buck. This lady was one of them. There is absolutely no substitute for a professional regardless of cost.
For those of you considering getting any form of piercing, body mod, etc. I strongly suggest looking for:
- a clean reputble place
- friendly people
- someone who is willing to answer your questions
All I can tell you is ask questions and if at any time you don't feel comfortable get out.
