Cute Grrrrrrly Septum???? |
| ||||||||||||||||
Well, what can I say, I have been MADLY obsessed with body mods since I was like 8 years old.I used to walk around our village with a Pocohontas dolls bracelet through my nose to look like a nostril ring - yeh, pathetic I know but c'mon I was 10. Then I went in2 a shop with it (this is where the touble starts) unfortunately I was blessed with an opinionated poison dwarf behind the counter. All I wanted was a packet of Chewing Gum, but I walked out with a whole lot more. The shop assistant - mentioning no names of course (even though I REALLY want to) took it upon herself to give me her views on my make shif nose ring. "Whats that thing in you nose, I hope that hasn't been pierced, does your Mother know? Well I think you look like a bull! Its bloody hideous"
To this day I have never forgotten what she said and how pissed that made me feel. Even though at 16 I've had various mods - tongue, labret, madonna, eyebrow, frenum, naval, orbital and a minor lobe stretching I have always had a soft spot for the septum (I wonder why). It is a piercing that my poor Mother (bless her) objects to with a vengence, however I couldn't resist any longer.
So one Saturday, about... 3 weeks ago I packed my Mama into the car and went down to Acomb to see my star piercer Trev (he had pierced all previously except for the tongue). At the time I was in financial dire straits and only had £20. "You can have anything you want for £20" said my Mother over and over, delighted that the Septum wasn't included!!! However I was adament I would get it there and then!!!! So we sat in the waiting room having a HUGE domestic, then my Trev popped his head around the door wondering what was going on.
He's always been very good to me in the past (I think I'm one of his best customers)knocking a couple of quid off here and there. He was slightly on edge because he had another customer due in about 10 minutes so he interrupted the feud with "If you go and lie on that bed right now, I'll give you it for £20, instead of £30"
That was it, I had never moved so fast in my life!!! I really wanted it pierced with a circular barbell, however he didn't have any in my size, so I decided to go with a CBR. I'd been that bothered about getting my Mum to agree to it, I hadn't even considered the pain factor. Which was when it hit me... this was gonna hurt - bad. However I was calm (honest)I sat there with my anaesthetic soaked cotton buds up my nose, lookin cool (well as cool as you can in that situation).
Might I just add how immaculately clean and hygenic the studio is, which is partly why I return so often!!!
I got into position - laid flat on the bed with my legs hanging over the edge, Trev poked and probed my nose for a bit and asked if I was ready for the clamp. Of course I was - it was the needle I wasn't ready for!
He put on the clamp and asked if It was comfortable, then when he had it in the righ place and he'd marked on the dots he started me with a brathing pattern - I appreciate that sort of thing so much, it puts me at total ease (well as much as possible when you're about to have a large needle put through your nose).
Breathe out.... Deep breath and hold it, my eyes shut tight I felt an intense tight stab that lasted all of 3 seconds but felt like a minute. Boy did I squeel, I couldn't bring myself to stop gritting my teeth and swear, so I did the next best thing and squeeled. My eyes watered loads and due to my position the tears were running into my ears which was kinda annoying. The next thing I knew the jewelry was through. I was a bit dazed but when I say it in the mirror I was freaking out because I love it so much. Even though I knew the aftercare sheets off by heart, he still gave me one and went through it with me to make sure I understood what to do. I got some saline solution included in the price.
Well three weeks later and its so cute!!! The few days after I had it done were a bit intense, I shot 3 feet in the air everytime I knocked it. I was very dedicated as always with my aftercare and its healing nicely!
I went back to the studio on Saturday and had my CBR changed to a small circular barbell as I wanted in the first place. I still love it, its my favourite piercing so far and I take great pleasure in flaunting it around the village shop where she STILL works - ha ha!!!
I've had mixed reactions from it, a lot of my friends like it, my Mother still hates it, my Dad doesn't care (chilled guy!) and I nearly gave my Grandma a coronary but apart from that its been pretty well received! I don't reccomend this for girls particularly, I think its a piercing that can either make or break your image. I'm jus fortunate that I look damn good with it! There are a lot of things to consider - especially your nose shape, this is not a piercing that looks good on long pointy noses - think about it! There's a considerable ammount of pain involved and this is generally considered by most a 'masculine piercing'. I you want this over your head then definately do it, just think before you do!!!
I've decide to limit myself to only 2 side lips and 2 nostrils for the face now.... well maybe a cheek! I am at present still stretching my lobe - yawn - a tedious process! Then It'll have to be my nipples, which should last me until I'm 18 when I can start on the ink and genital piercings - YAY!!!
