Stage 1 In My Facial Piercing Project - The Tongue

I have this year begun a series of facial piercings which has grown into a facial project. It will cummilate in a total of 10 piercings on my face not including the ears. The first two piercings I got done were a upper cartlidge piercing and my tongue. This was to be my second tongue piercing.

When I was 15 or 16 and living in the United States. I had waited till my parents went out of town. Stolen my father ID and forged his signature. I DO NOT RECOMMEND NOR CONDONE THIS ACTION TO ANYONE READING THIS. Plus it was 10 years ago you won't get away with it now :P

Anyway I had my tongue pierced and I did not get to keep it long but was at the time convinced it was crooked. However I could not go back and complain. I had got it done by lying and forgery so I just lived with it. Until my mother discovered what I had done. I was ordered to remove it or I could not go anywhere until I did. I had a very strict home life. I removed the piercing. Drove to get it replaced later but it had closed.

I remember it then as been painful and the horrible tastse of listerine. I also quickly developed a bad habit of running it along my teeth and playing with it.

Moving on. This time at age 26 I went to my new piercer in a different country. The story about finding him is in my first cartlidge piercing story. Anyway I told Dan what I just wrote above about the old tongue piercing and he looked at my tongue and confirmed that the tongue had been pierced crookedly. Due to this he decided it was best to pierce my tongue further back than was usual. I agreed to this.

The jewelery was autoclaved and while waiting Dan and I chatted for a while. I was quite relaxed and really excited. Hard to explain but it is like a tingling inside of me that would not be quelled until I had the holes and jewelry imbedded in my body.

Inside the piercing room which was clean, white and comfortable. My mouth was rinsed. We marked the spot. This was fine with me. Dan then got out the clamps. The piercing was painless. It was quick and simple. The sterile disposable needle, that was opened in front of me quickly went through. Then the barbell went in easily.

There was quite a bit of bleeding and I realised dan was standing in front of me with a bowl looking at me somewhat expectantly... I looked back. He said you can spit the blood out now.

I said, " Oh but I swallowed it".

I do not like to waste blood, its beautiful and nothing wrong with a

mouthful of blood. After the tongue had stopped bleeding. I was given a mirror to admire it. Happily I thanked Dan. I paid him and went home

pausing at red lights to admire my new piercings in the mirror :D

The healing process was fine. I used a salt water solution and rinsed my mouth after eating and before bed and on waking up. The swelling was average and went down after the first few days. I learned to eat again with something through my tongue. There was no infection, no pain.

A few weeks later I returned to have my jewelery changed. Dan is happy to change the jewelery and does not charge extra. He was also available by phone or drop in if I had any queries. I appreciate this and do not like to be charged extra for things. I am a student so I am not rich. I did return to have a new barbell put in that was slightly shorter. Again it was a friendly and good experience.

At the time Dan told me piercings were addictive and he was certainly right. I found BME and I almost immediatly began thinking, hmmm what can I get done next.

I love my tongue piericing and the only problem I have with it, is the fact is is not so obvious. Not as obvious compared to the rest of the metal in my face. Still it is my birthday soon and my friend who is a piercer in sweden is sending me some more jewelry. I am excited to see what he has sent and to change up my piercings :D

Overall my experience at www.lefthandpathtattoos.com was only positive. Friendly, helpful, knowledegable and made me feel relaxed. This has resulted in me been a repeat customer. I could not be happier with the service, after care and work I have done there.

Thanks Dan.
