One day I was on the computer and was on Google looking stuff up for a school health project. For some odd reason I came across a tongue webbing picture. I said I wanted that moment I set eyes on the picture. I clicked on it and looked up information all about it. The piercing didn't look dangerous at all so I forgot about all bad things and fell in love with it. I called my friend Kati right after I saw the picture and asked her to come over that same day and perform the piercing. I had thoughts like it was going to hurt terribly and I was going to pass out or it was going to get infected or what would my dentist say (ha-ha) but I totally trusted Kati. She's been my artist for a year now.

As she pulled up in the driveway, I started getting nervous. I've had her pierce my belly button and 6 of my ear holes, but this one I was most nervous about. My last words were "here we go again" and I opened my mouth. She opened a fresh pack of needles and jewelry, and put on sterile gloves. From the corner of my eye, I saw her move the lamp closer to where I was sitting and also picked up the needle. It was a 14G sized needle. I took a deep breath and I felt a sharp poke, then another. I thought I heard a little click, but I think I was hearing things. And talk about saliva!! Uncontrollable. I had to have a towel on me the whole time. "We're done with the piercing part." She says. I was relieved. It hurt less then I was thinking that it would.
I have to admit, it took about 5 hours for her to screw on the ball, only because I kept jerking my head because she had to pull on the hoop to screw the ball. I almost swallowed it once. That would have been very bad. Finally she got the ball screwed on, but the piercing started to bleed a little and it was very painful. I took some Advil and a little later it was less painful and stopped bleeding. The only problem was that I couldn't eat much because under my tongue hurt a little and it was extremely swollen! I had ice-cream but that still hurt. I wanted to take it out right then and there because I had a feeling that this wasn't worth it. But I didn't take it out and I'm glad.
The next day I looked at it and there was white stuff coming out each end. I had Kati come over to check on it. She said hers did that also. (She's had one for a year now.) I found out it will stop when the piercing completely healed. I've only had it a week, and it does not hurt. The only times I have discomfort are when I eat hard foods, and hit it with my teeth. That happens a lot only because right now it is a hoop. And that is too long for my mouth so the ball gets caught on my front teeth and it pulls. That is so painful. I think I rip it out every time I do that. And I do that a lot.
I love it. It's like a toy in my mouth and my parents still haven't seen it. Totally hidden by my tongue so it is the perfect piercing. If anyone has any jewelry suggestions, Email me please. I would like to change my piercing. Not a hoop because that is what I have and it is causing me problems.
Plus, I know people who have do it by themselves, but that is dangerous and I recommend getting it professionally done and looking up information about it before doing anything with the inside of your mouth You're so much better off doing that instead of hitting a vein and bleeding to death. Also, the needle has to be the right size. Sewing needles aren't a piercing tool. Don't use that. I hear it causes more pain then a real piercing needle.
I say, if you play sports and have to take the piercing out, go ahead. I found out the piercing does not close much at all. I had to because I play softball and I had no troubles at all putting the hoop back in. Just don't do it very often because that's just asking the hole to close up. Also, check out retainers if you really have to for a long period of time. Just regular clear, earring posts will work just fine. Just a little information from me to you about my personal experience. =)
