So I had been thinking about a new piercing for a while, but working in a shop where visible piercings are not allowed makes it difficult, so I decided I wanted something to keep my smiley company...

I can remember looking at pictures on BME of tongue web piercings and cringing at the thought of that little stringy bit of flesh being pierced but since getting my smiley pierced my feelings had changed, so I was decided.
My brother was wanting to go into town to get an industrial so I went with him not really intending to get pierced that day since I had work, but as I sat waiting for him and saw how good his industrial was I immediately wanted my tongue web done.
I told Mark what I wanted and he laughed telling me to be prepared for a really tricky and fiddly time...most like what my smiley experience was like! I gurgled with my cup of Listerine for a few minutes whilst Mark got everything ready. He had a look at my web and decided that there was enough there to be pierced by grabbing it with the clamps! Now if it's one thing I HATE about piercing it's the clamps especially when they are in my mouth! I got prodded and pulled for a bit whilst he made sure the placement was right then went straight into piercing it telling me to keep my tongue on my front teeth...yeh a lot easier said than done!!! My tongue just had a mind of its own and I was doing a stupid gurgle laugh at Mark teasing me so I think I totally missed the needle actually going through. He cut the end off the tube through my web and told me to keep still whilst he sorted out the jewellery. It was a bitch getting the balls on, it really hurt as well because he was pulling on the web so much, and just when I thought I was done he decided to tighten the balls even more!!!
I had a look in the mirror and loved it straight away. I paid and left, talking fine and not really feeling any pain at all except from when I tried to lift my tongue up, which felt awful!
I tried to eat chocolate buttons when I got home but by that time it was a good few hours after the piercing and my tongue had begun to swell underneath and bruise pretty badly. I couldn't really lift my tongue enough to have a proper look but I saw the swollen web and a purple and bloody bruise just under the balls of the bar. Ow! I rummaged through the freezer and found an ice lolly to sooth it al little but it didn't help much at all.
A few hours later and the swelling was worse, so no tea for me!! My mouth was making loads of saliva as well, probably thinking I had food in there! I wish!
I woke up this morning and I didn't even realise the bar was there it felt so much better! I have been doing my Listerine washes after everything I try to eat or drink and so far it's looking a lot better. The bruise has gone completely and the swelling is a lot less. The only thing other than my eating it has affected is how I say certain things. The swelling is stopping my tongue from being able to sit in the bottom of my mouth properly and I realised today when I was at work that when I said prices some of my numbers sounded funny!! So far it is four's and six's but even as I say them now it is sounding better! I still can't touch my back teeth or lick my front teeth (I realised this when I was trying to fiddle with my smiley) and it feels achy when I eat but other than that I have no complaints! I absolutely love it; it sits very comfortably in my mouth and like the feeling of the balls on the underside of my tongue which I am playing with constantly. I think I will be getting the balls changed to plastic ones however once it has had a change to heal as they rest slightly on my gums at the back of my front teeth and I have read experiences which have mentioned gum erosion there because of tongue web piercings. I like how they click of my front teeth though when I stick my tongue out! Probably not a good thing in the long run but fun anyways! For now though I'm going to baby it and enjoy my shiny new piercing!!!
