Ok so on my way to college one morning, a little bit early so I thought.. I'll look around the shops.

I saw myself in a mirror, noticed my nose stud, all my ear piercings and thought, time to change it up.

I had been talking to a girl online who was covered in piercings and I mean covered, and I really liked her tongue web piercing. I thought it was pretty unusual, I mean I don't know anyone other than her who has it done, and I like it when people talk about me for my uniqueness...

So I went in, casually approached the counter and almost chickened out.. I was about to say "Can you do me a tragus piercing?" (again!) when a little voice popped into my head and said "You're tougher than this!" So I asked her how much it would be, not that I needed to know as I had plenty of money on me (just been paid). She told me £30 and I was happy.

She asked me to show her my web and I felt a little stupid I must admit. She said mine looked like an easy one.. which I must say confused me a little.. what could make one web easier than another? I signed all the forms, saying I was 18, even though you only need to be 16 to get pierced there (I dunno, just something I always do) and she asked me if I'd had anything else pierced in the last 3 months, I said no. She also asked if I'd had a tattoo in the last 3 months, again no. To this day I have no idea what a tattoo would have to do with anything. She asked if I wanted a bar or a ring and of course I said bar. I hate rings. Not sure why, just can't stand them, especially as the healing jewellery.

She showed me into the room and had me sat on the chair and lean back. She showed me the sterile needle and the jewellery and numbed my tongue web. "Don't swallow that" she said, but it was inevitable that it went down the back of my throat. She told me to hold my tongue up and to one side which was difficult and I kept needing to swallow.

The needle went through fine, absolutely no pain whatsoever. The bar itself was a little tricky.. well no, the bar went through fine but the ball just wouldn't go on. After what seemed like an age of not being able to swallow, she got it on, told me to spit out the blood (of which there was very little) and go take a look.

I loved it. It swelled up straight away and my mouth felt weird from the numbing spray but it looked awesome! I thanked her, paid and left.

texting my friends to let them know I'd finally done it after ranting about it for so long, I saw an acquaintance. She asked me why I was holding my mouth open and I showed her, all excited. She said "Is there only supposed to be one ball?" Damn it, I thought and I turned away without saying a word, and walked back to the piercing studio.

I showed her and she said "No problem, the balls still in your mouth" (Gotta say I found that funny) She said it was weird cos usually the ball is secured at one end and able to loosen at the other, but the tight end had come off. She refitted it, saying she'd hate to be a dentist and I rinsed out my mouth again and off I went.

I used mouthwash three times a day every day which did sting for the first few days but it was fine after. It also really ached when I first woke up, but I just kinda wriggled my tongue a bit and it went away. They advised me not to smoke or drink for at least 8 weeks, but as a party girl, I ignored that. I don't recommend ignoring the piercer's advice, and it was my responsibility, so do stick to their rules as much as humanly possible! Also clean your teeth after every meal.. but thats sometimes impossible although I tried my best!

Think I need some new jewellery for it soon, I'm a little bored of the one I have in now. People say to me "Why bother, no one can see it unless you yawn or purposely show it" but I had that piercing for me and no one else so I don't care.

I absolutely love it, no pain, well worth having. A bit fiddly to remove and replace when changing jewellery but you get used to it. I do chew on it alot and I doubt I should but hey ho. Its healed perfectly (and did heal really quickly as well, but she said it would as its a pretty much self cleaning area) and its definitely my favorite piercing! Thats a recommendation for you!!
