I used to be that person who said:"I would never ever pierce my tongue, my luck I'll die or something". Well, that all changed about 5 months ago.

There was only one problem, my parents =[ uh-oh. I knew deff. not to ask my dad or bring it up at all because I already knew the automatic answer, so one night after dinner, I sat my mom down and talked with her about it, and to my surprise, she said she'll think about it. For like a month I begged my parents, I looked up all stories, watched like all the videos on youtube and myspace with people getting their tongue (at first I was too scared to watch because I hate needles but I didn't care anymore). Eventually my parents seen how much I wanted it done and how I really did care about getting it done because I would look all the info up, talk to professional piercers, and they knew how well I took care of my bellybutton when I got that done. So like a week later they told me out of the blue that I could get it done. I was sooo happy.
The day of the piercing, I was soo hyper, I couldn't wait. On the way to the shop, I started getting nervous, but I didn't care, I wanted it so bad. The shop was very clean, all my friends go there, my relatives who got their tattoo's there all recommended it to me. The staff was very friendly and didn't mind answering all my questions. I filled out forms (asking if you've had alcohol or aspirin or ate in the past 4 hours) and agreeing that they aren't eligible for anything happening to me. After that, I had to wait for about 5 minutes. Then the piercer came and got me, and I had to rinse my mouth out for a minute with Listerine (it hurt soo bad but they do that for two reasons: to clean your mouth out -- duh, and to numb the tongue),my boyfriend and my mom went in the room with the piercer. I walked in when I was done and thats when I got nervous (when I seen the needle and the clamp in the package). She had me sit in this dentist-looking chair, and dried my tongue off and marked it with this purple dye and when I closed my mouth it got on my lip so they started laughing at me =[ but it was all good. Then she clamped my tongue and she was like just breathe and relax, so I did and she told me to close my eyes, but I didn't (I don't know why but I didn't) so she counted to 3 and stuck the needle threw and to be honest with you, it didn't hurt at all!! :] All you feel is a pinch when the needle comes out threw to bottom, then she stuck the barbel threw and that was a little uncomfortable but it was really quick. I did drool though it was pretty funny. When she had me put my tongue back in my mouth though, that was a little problem only because your tongue was clamped down sticking out of your mouth and you no have a piece of metal threw your tongue, but when I got it back in, she had me rinse it again with diluted this time.
Eating was a little problem for me, but I finally got used to it after about a week and a half. Just keep drinking cold cold iced water and take ibuprofen to keep the swelling down. I did have pressure in my lower jaw for about almost a week (only because of my tongue getting swollen after the ibuprofen wore off). Don't eat spaghetti though, it gets wrapped around your tongue ring eat it about like a month after getting pierced, that way your tongue is used to eating again. I couldn't do many things with my tongue for a while but eventually you will be able to (you just gotta give time for your tongue to get strong again).
Other than that it was all worth it and I would get it re-pierced again if I ever had to. I've had my tongue pierced for about 3 months now and I haven't had any complications with it only when trying to eat the first time it got pierced. Anybody thinking about getting it pierced, go ahead!! Trust me, the anxiety before the piercing is the worst part of the piercing. Biting your tongue hurts more than getting it pierced.
