My Self-Done Web Piercing.

My web is not my first piercing. I also have my nose (nostril), my belly button (top) and three holes on each ear. I've done my own ears but my web is the first 'real' piercing I did by myself.

Warning: This is a self-done piercing. I was lucky to find the right spot on my web. Done wrong, you can seriously damage yourself. Consult a professional before attempting.

I've really liked all different types of piercings. I'm not the kind of person that would cringe at any piercing, they're all so cool to me. But sadly, I've only had relatively discreet piercings because of my conservative parents. Then I started doing research here on BME about other piercings that were hidable. I wanted my tongue pierced but I'm a wuss when it comes to pain. Then I came across web-tongue piercings. I thought they were gorgeous. And when I thought back, I remembered a few of my friends had them.

I asked them about their webs and how to clean them, et cetera. Turns out both of them did it themselves. They told me it was painless and easy to do yourself. After reading a few stories here on BME to make sure, I was very inspired. My friend lent me her horse-shoe lipring (gauge 16) and I was totally excited and ready.

That day I went home and went looking for a needle that would suit my job. I found a very thick safety pin (probably not the best idea..) It looked appropriate for my job, though. I started working on cleaning the ring, the needle and my mouth.

I first boiled them in water, then burned them with a lighter and then I poured a bowl of hydrogen peroxide and left them to sit there for a few moments. And I cleaned out my mouth with regular mouth wash.

When I was done, the process took about 10-15 minutes. I picked up the safety pin and stuck my tongue to the roof of my mouth, exposing my web. I put the needle to a randomly picked spot on my web (I could've really hurt myself, I know.) I told myself, "Lets see if the needle would actually go through.." I started pushing. Not 3 seconds later, the safety pin was through my web. 100% Painlessly. I honeslty couldn't believe how much the piercing had not hurt. I left the safety pin there for a few minutes. The jewelry took a while to actually get through, there was lots of pushing involved but only a drop of blood. I screwed the balls in (which was very hard for me.) And there it was, all done.

About 3 or 4 days later, I decided I wanted to change the balls on the jewelry for a green and a purple one. So I went to a piercer and he did it for me. Getting your hands in such a tight space is very difficult. I'll leave that to professionals. The piercer didn't notice it was self-done, he actually said it was really nicely pierced.

It's now a little more than a week old. I clean it after every meal, when I wake up and before I go to bed with a mouth wash and water mix (fifty percent mouth-wash, fifty percent water.) Sometimes I used a salt rinse. Which is 8 ounces of warm or hot water with 1/4 of a teaspoon of sea salt. I swish it and it leaves my mouth feeling clean. Still, eating is very uncomfortable and I hardly ever want to eat. Cleaning it is difficult, because it has to be done so often. It is still tender but the swelling is minimal. There is a tiny bit of puss build-up but so far so good.

I am so proud of my web piercing. Lots of people cringe at it but others think it's really cool. The balls in my ring now are a lot bigger than the others I had before, so, I have a lisp. And I love it! When I talk, sometimes you can see the jewelry under my tongue. If I stick out my tongue, you can see the two different colored balls resting on my lower teeth, which is really cool. I find it very stylish... My parent's still have NO idea, teehee :)!

I totally recommend this piercing to anyone who's willing.

I want other piercings now, I want a smiley, a few surface piercings, nipple and an industrial piercing. I also want to start stretching my ears.

Please, if you have any advice for me, or if you need any advice from me, I am very interested in what you have to say, email me. Don't be shy!

The End :)
