July 3, 2006 I decided it was time for some new metal. I had to go through quite the experience to get this next little addition. I started out heading to my usual shop to visit my piercer when I learned that she no longer works there and has moved away. What a bummer!

I called around to many different places to talk with different piercers before getting set on a new place to check out. I learned that some of the places in my town didn't even know what the tongue web was. That was a simply scary thought to me.
Just when I thought I found one, I called and everything seemed great, I show up to the shop but to my disappointment they tell me they are out of supplies and the piercer won't be taking anymore clients today. I would have been okay with it if I had not called a little earlier to tell them I would be stopping by. It would have just taken a second for them to tell me I needed to wait another day because they were out of supplies for that day.
Anyway, I decided in that moment I couldn't be happy going to a shop with so little courtesy to the customer. Back to the drawing board. After doing some looking around on BME I found Cheap TRX in St. Louis, MO to be highly recommended. I live just outside the city and figured it's nice and close to home. I called the shop and talked with William who explained that not everyone is suited to have a tongue web piercing and the only way he could tell was for me to come in and let him have a look. So that afternoon I did just that, got in my car with my boyfriend and headed down to Cheap TRX. William was there, and had nobody waiting. He took a look and said, "oh yeah that won't be a problem". After copying my ID and having me sign the usual paperwork we headed back to the piercing room.
Once inside, William took his time to explain the procedure, the aftercare, and what I could expect for the next few days. These were nothing new to me since I already had a tongue piercing and 10 others to boot. We talked a bit about things and he even answered questions I had about stretching my already done tongue. William was extremely friendly and professional.
Then it was time for the big moment. He gave me some tech2000 to rinse my mouth with and chatted up my boyfriend while I was rinsing out my mouth. After the rinse, he explained that he would not be marking my web for placement. He explained that by the time he marked and showed me the marks, they would be washed away and would have been a complete waste. I trusted his 13 years of piercing experience and let him do what he does best.
He set up his sterile field perfectly (and I know this because I am a registered nurse). On went the gloves and clamps. As usual, the clamps were the uncomfortable part of the procedure. Not that it is really painful; it's just a different kind of sensation to have someone holding your tongue web with hard metal. After he was happy with the placement, the needle came through in a flash. I felt a slight pinch but I really wasn't aware he had already pierced me. Before I could even blink the CBR was in place with the ball on.
He called me a "rock star" because I didn't blink or move a muscle when he pierced me. I was totally excited about my new metal and the wonderful experience I was having with my new shop and piercer. He gave me a mirror and I had a look at my new jewelry and really loved it. I had some slight bleeding from the procedure so he brought me a grape popsicle to help stop it and help with the swelling that was bound to come.
I gave him a tip and out the door I went. Only to bum around the shop awhile longer to check it all out. On top of being a great shop the sell so many other things. Of course a great selection of body jewelry, but also silver jewelry, greeting cards, t-shirts, and adult toys and merchandise. It's a great place to just go check out sometime if you are in St. Louis.
I very highly recommend this shop and more importantly, if you live in the area and are looking for a great piercer. Go visit Cheap TRX and ask for William. You won't be sorry!
