Ever since I was younger I have always loved piercings and tattoos. My parents however did not. Growing up in a decently strict Christian family, it was looked on as an immoral act to get any sort of body modification. They even disliked the two tattoos my uncle had on his forearms. After piercing my navel on my own four or five times my parents had gotten pretty fed up and decided to let me get it done professionally. By the time I was 15 I had done so many do it yourself piercings that I was driving them insane.(All of them had to be taken out unfortunately.) Despite the begging, pleading and arguments I had with them over the years they still would not give in to letting me actually get something done.
At A Glance Author Amanda Contact Amanda@bme.anon When A month ago One night while talking to my boyfriend about wanting some sort of piercing. I thought about getting my lip done how my boyfriend had his but after thinking about it I realized my parents would make me take it out immediately. After browsing the internet for a while, I finally came upon a picture of an off-center tongue piercing called venoms. I totally and completely fell in love with them. I thought, because it was in my mouth and not on an all the time noticeable place on my body my parents would never find out. I discussed the idea with my boyfriend and after getting his approval I decided to go through with the piercing.
My boyfriend refused to let me get it done at just some random "Rinky-Dink" shop, so he talked to a good friend of his who owns a shop in a neighboring town. We both trusted the guy and had a good friendship with him. We knew he had prior experience at doing venoms so thought he'd be the perfect person to do my tongue. Fast foward to a week later when we had scheduled the Appointment. that was right for all of us. I woke up both nervous and excited at the thought of finally getting my tongue done. I called my boyfriend up and after going over his house we made the drive to the shop. Everyone there was really nice and the place was clean and sterile. After finishing up a tattoo he was working on and cleaning up he walked us into a back room and sat me down in a chair. At this point my hands we're practically shaking. I was was handed a cup with some sort of mouthwash in it and was told to rinse. My boyfriend could totally see the panic in my eyes and grabbed my hand to comfort me. Well it worked for the most part and I became quite relaxed.
After checking my tongue for veins and making sure it could actually be pierced, the piercer began to mark my tongue. After a few looks in the mirror and making sure I liked the position we continued. He told me to stick out my tongue as far as possible so he could clamp it. He clamped it and I didn't experience the kind of pain most of my friends said they had with this process. I was told to take a deep breath and he'd put the first needle through. I breathed in closed my eyes and squeezed my boyfriends hand as hard as possible and it was done. Not as scary or painful as I had imagined but it still hurt like hell. He slipped the jewelry in and to my surprise there was no pain associated with the jewelry going in, It just a bit weird to have two big metal things floating around in your mouth.Only one more to go and that was it. So again I took a deep breath and the second one was through. The jewelry was put in and I was done. I was given some aftercare instructions and told to come back in two weeks so the jewelry could be changed. My boyfriend paid (being the nice guy that he is) and we headed to a local Seven Eleven to pick up some ice and Asprin, Which by the way come in handy.
For the next few days my tongue was swollen and almost unbearable. I could barely speak yet alone eat. I was limited to mainly soups and things that I really didn't have to chew. My parents didn't notice and all my friends loved them. It's been about a month now and the swelling is down completely. The jewelry is no longer long and annoying and I can eat, speak and enjoy my newly pierced Venoms. If you decide to get them done be sure you trust your piercer and be prepared for the pain afterwards. It's really a great piercing and it can come in handy. =]
