I Went to 2 Extreme Skin Art for a new barbell for my 14ga tongue piercing. I loved how the 10ga looked and I have had mine pierced for 3 years now so it was time for something bigger. I looked thru the piercing book they had and the 10ga just looked so sexy, I knew I had to get it. I was scared it was going to hurt really badly. I am not good with pain although when I got my tongue pierced it did not hurt badly at all. It just felt like I bit my tongue.

The piercer told me this should not hurt at all because the hole is already there. I took his word for it and picked out the barbell I wanted. I was also worried about swelling and talking funny but he said I should not experience that. Sucking on ice and rinsing with Listerine after meals and ibuprofen would help. I followed him to the back and had a seat. He has me swish with Listerine while he got the needle and jewelry ready. I saw the needle and got scared but he told me not to worry. Like that helped at all but I knew I wanted this so much. Then I told myself it will be okay I will love it. I took out my 14ga barbell and then I was more excited then ever. He had me stick out my tongue and I closed my eyes because staring at the needle was not helping. At first I did not feel anything and then it hurt a little but not as bad as I imagined it would be. Then I could feel him twisting the jewelry and I was relived it was over. Then he had me look in the mirror and I immediately fell in love. It just looked so awesome. I was so happy I got it done. He told me to rinse with Listerine after eating and that I should not have any swelling since he tapered from 14ga to 10ga.

On the way home I stopped to get a milkshake because it was sore. It made it feel a lot better it numbed it a lot. I also sucked on ice which made it feel good too. I took ibuprofen just to make sure there was no swelling. So far so good. My husband thinks it is sexy as hell.

Day 1
It is still sore but nothing unbearable. Ice and ibuprofen are helping a lot. I don't have a lisp or anything but I work today so I will have to wait and see how that goes.

Day 2
It was a little sore from talking at work but Ice helped a lot. I have only been eating soft foods afraid I might bite down and be in pain.

Day 3
I am not as sore but if I touch my tongue to it I can still feel it. I tried to eat a sandwich and I was fine. I am not completely healed but I feel better then yesterday.

Day 4
I feel great. I have no pain at all. I am very happy with the outcome. I am still rinsing with Listerine.

Day 5
I showed it off to everyone and they think I am crazy but I love it and that's all that matters. I am back to myself and can't wait for new body jewelry and a shorter barbell so I won't have to worry about biting it. It is healing very well and I love it.

I can't wait to go shopping tomorrow for new 10ga barbells. It is the best birthday present! I would do it again in a heart beat. I actually want to get a 2nd piercing in my tongue. I am going to look into it and will post it on here if I go do it.

I hope my experience helps those looking for a bigger gauge. It is best to research it which I did looking on bme and looking at the portfolio. It is worth it; you will love it and not think twice about it. It is a lot more fun and I think it looks a lot sexier then 14ga.

A little advice just makes sure not to just stick 10ga thru your 14ga hole that can cause tearing and a lot more pain. It you get it tapered it only hurts a little and it is well worth it. The only thing I regret is that I waited so long to get it done. I always was scared to get a bigger size because I thought it would hurt so much and not heal. I am glad I got it done and could not be happier. I wish you the best with your piercing.
