As I have stretched my original tongue piercing to 3.2mm, and the fact that it was pierced with an angle to prevent my teeth getting chipped, I never really thought it was possible to get another central tongue piercing. It was when I approached my piercist and good friend Jay about it that she said it was possible to do a piercing in front of the old one, but not too close to the tip. Excited and pleased, I promised her I'd be back after my trip to Amsterdam to have the wonderful procedure. I have to admit I was a little apprehensive as my 2nd tongue piercing didn't go to plan, and eventually had to be taken out, and wondered if the same would happen to this one.

Day 1. When I got back I took a trip straight to Brighton, to Punktured, and low and behold, Jay was in. I spoke to Nick, the assistant and he told me if I waited an hour while Jay sorted other customers out, I could get it done, but I'd have to get a 20mm longer 3.2mm bar before hand to put in my old tongue piercing. I went off, and an hour later, I returned, looking a little unhappy with the, what seemed like a scaffold pipe in my mouth.

When Jay had cleaned up inside she brought me in. It was the first time I've been in their new shop to get a piercing, and it was beautiful. I sat down, and as usual, me and Jay were soon laughing and joking about this and that. She has a wonderful talent of making me laugh, even though I'm nervous. She selected a nice 19mm bar and clamped up, with my other tongue piercing inside the clamp. This pinched, a lot! I tried to ignore it, and pretend I was at the dentist when I felt searing agony in my tongue. I don't seem to remember this happening last time! Once the bar was in, I had to wash my mouth out, I was bleeding tremendously, but it stopped very quickly. After thanking her the best I could, and getting laughed at for not being able to pronounce words, I returned home.

Day 5, HORROR! the agony in my tongue was absolutely unbearable. Luckily it hadn't swollen up and the bars I had were far to big. I refused to take out the tongue piercing, but was on the edge of cutting my tongue off. Any slight movement in my mouth would send tears running down my face, what was worse, is I couldn't get Salt Water to the bottom of my tongue. I couldn't physically lift my tongue through the sheer agony of it.

Day 6, I couldn't bear it anymore, I was desperate. I found out that my tongue hurt so much because the crap on the bar on the bottom was dragging through the wound. I managed to get hold of some Dentyl, the mouthwash that you can actually see working. I used it, cleaned with salt water, used again, and salt watered again. I've never felt such relief in my life! But it was still hurting ever so slightly. I decided to ignore this as it was normal.

Day 7, Agony strikes again. This time I didn't know what was going on. The top of the piercing was fine, but the bottom felt like there was live wires attached to my tongue. I used the mouthwash but to no avail. Panicking a little I checked out my tongue and kidded myself into thinking it was an Ulcer. After getting my mum to check it for me, she assured me it wasn't an ulcer.

Day 8. Once again I couldn't bear it anymore, so I temporarily removed the old tongue piercing to get a good look at the new one. Suddenly, and very surprisingly, my tongue stopped hurting. I had a go at putting the old piercing back in and I soon discovered that it wasn't the new tongue piercing giving me grief at all! The old one was now bleeding and sore. After using plenty of salt water on the both, I left them alone for a bit.

Day 14. The day I should have had my tongue piercing changed over. I couldn't get into Brighton so instead, I decided on changing it myself. There was only one problem, my tongue was still swollen. Intent on changing the bars, because the long bars were hurting my tongue more than ever, I changed my 3.2mm bar to the old one, and set about finding the right size for the new piercing. I finally got there, and I could finally pronounce things properly. Pleased with this, I had my first real solid meal, though the pain was still mildly there.

Day 17. Agony Strikes yet again! This piercing did not like me. A lump started to form on the bottom. I was getting worried because it as actually changing the angle of the piercing altogether. Getting all the more annoyed and anxious about the piercing I went straight to Punktured to have them check it out. Julie told me it was nothing to be worried about, it was just taking a lot longer to heal than normal. This set my mind at ease and I soon stopped worrying about it.

Day 21. Which is today. The large lump is still there but thankfully it's not grown any larger. The last few days have been utterly painful but today I've seen improvement. I feel that this piercing will start to get along with me from now on. At least now I can eat without feeling any pain whatsoever.
