I got my web done back in March, I'm a little drawn to the more "unusual" piercings, but I also have a major paranoia about chipping my teeth, since I've spent about a grand on braces etc, so when I found the tongue web, it was discreet, (i.e. parents wont flip out too bad, and school wont go ape shit), and it was cute, and a little unusual... I fell in love and knew I had to get one. And after reading on BME of another girl who got it done, at the same place not long after me, I felt the urge to write my story up as well.

After work I dragged my mate down to my usual Piercing place, Under the Skin in Aldershot. The trains were being utter wankstains, so we had to wait over an hour for a bus. But the point is we finally got there. All of a two-minuet walk from the station later and we were there. What I love about Under The Skin is that you walk into a smell of clean, and it feels safe, unlike some of the local studios. You go down the stairs to a small waiting area, walks covered with the usual flash tattoos, luckily it was empty so I didn't have to wait long. By the time I got my tongue web, I had quite a few done by Dave before, so I knew the drill. But first I had to stand for a while holding my tongue back to check my web could be pierced. Luckily I got the "A ok" and we went in and sat down. Turns out we did have to wait for a small while, while a girl was getting her septum piercing straightened (a botched piercing from somewhere else, I think) after they were done, the septum girls sat for a while cleaning up blood while I got in the chair, and asked if they could watch. Hell I had no problem.

The piercing its self wasn't terribly exciting; I got it done with a 1.2 BCR but with a green gem in the ball (see BME galleries). I lay back opened my mouth and stuck my tongue back, he sprayed my mouth with freeze spray that tasted disgusting, and a two minute game of charades commenced, of me trying to say "I need to spit!" I finally got to spit out the spray into a huge pile of tissues, but not after swallowing a little bit and having a now vaguely numb throat. I then sat back in the chair and the piercing took place. I again stuck out my tongue, I wasn't nervous as I knew it was a painless piercing, but Dave kept going "Right, you ready for this? You sure?" and then when the needle was through "How was that, anything but awful?"

I sat for a little while with a piece of plastic sticking out my mouth, while he chose a small BCR then came the tricky part. Getting the ring in was easy enough, getting it to stay still so the Ball could be placed in was a completely different matter. It took Dave and my mate to help holding a clamp; about five min's to get the bastard in. But once it was clipped into place I got to spit a little more, (there was minimal blood, and a lot of saliva, yummy!) and got to look in the mirror, it was stunning. I was on such a high. The girls with the septum came and fawned over the piercing for a while, then I got a dink of water from Dave, and sat talking piercing for a while, assuring him that I would be back again soon.

My best piece of advice with the web is don't play with it too much initially, that was my only real downfall. I was a bit miffed that you couldn't see the gem so with a pair of tweezers tried to spin it round, only to have the ball fly out. Not the brightest thing I had ever done.

I spent a good hour trying got get the original back in, and failed completely, and considering my parents didn't know I had it done, and that we were half way though a family dinner I was stuffed, I took it out thinking I had lost which was my current favourite piercing forever. Sitting in my room a few hours later very upset, I remember the BCR in my ear lobe, one I was given for free as it was my initial rook ring that was too big it was a 1.6 gage with a larger diameter, but despite that it went in like a charm, this was my favourite BCR as it had always been easy to get the ball in but not out. I found that with a slightly larger ring, I could pop the BCR out of my mouth slightly, which makes changing it, and placing the ball in ALOT easier.

But aside from that little mishap all went well, I was a bit freaked by the white tissue at first, but when I found that was normal, I calmed down. It healed really fast by about a week and a half I could, play as much as I wanted, and I can even still happily put my retainer in at night, it sits comfortably either on to of the brace or just underneath it. I also found the best way to clean this little plaque magnet, was to use a sonic toothbrush (if you are lucky enough to have one) hold it on for ten seconds or so, and all the plaque disappears!

I would highly recommend under the skin for service and quality, I have had only one bad experience form them involving an inner conch (which was re done free of charge) but that's another story. Which perhaps I'll write up, but I will be back there after exams for a vertical labret! If your in the area this is defiantly the place to go, its worth the £2.90 train fare and mini mission.
