I really love piercings, but I have uptight parents. So after getting every piercing I wanted on my ears (which is like...12), I decided to find something more unusual and hidden.

I looked on here, and liked the idea of a tongue web. I was pretty scared because it was so random, but after a friend got it done I thought it was safe because at least I'd have someone I know to ask about it.

My friends were getting more lip piercings, and I just tagged along one day during a college half term. I sat in there waiting for them...but then decided to get my tongue web done, because I cannot actually go into the piercing place and come out with nothing. Oh the joy...I had the choice of a teeny tiny purple or blue bcr as well, which I thought was amazing. I'm lucky because I live close to a place who do pretty much any piercing, for a good price. (£15 for all needle piercings).

I was pretty scared, because it was my first non ear piercing (but not my first needle piercing). I lay down on the chair, with my friend by my side, Dave was making me calm by joking around and stuff, they are really nice people in there, I go there for everything, but anyway, he sprayed the numbing stuff in my mouth and I held it there for a while. After dribbling it out, and having comments made about the amount of fluid pouring out of my mouth, he proceeded to pierce me. Honestly, I didn't actually feel it. I know after reading other peoples stories I'm always just like "oh you're blatantly lying about not feeling it." I mean obviously I felt it...but to be honest it was kind of a nice feeling, I can't really explain it without sounded like a freak...it didn't hurt, put it that way. The only REALLY annoying thing was holding my tongue still for so long, it just twitches and is annoying, and kind of uncomfortable when you have a needle stuck underneath your tongue.

He put the hoop in no problem, my friend was ooh-ing and aah-ing (she was annoyed because her tongue web wasn't big enough to be pierced, haha), and Dave commented on how weird the piercing was, and after about 30 seconds of struggling with that DAMN ball, it was on!

I hopped off the chair and looked in the mirror, no blood, all proud and happy. I dribbled more into the bin, which was fun. We then went to get chips and a drink.

This piercing was like...so easy to take care of. I went ridiculously over-board with the aftercare, because it was my first oral piercing and stuff, so yeah. Basically I just rinsed with diluted mouthwash (aqua fresh if you must know) after smoking/eating, and also when I went to bed and when I woke up.

It was fine, and healed within about 3 days. It was a little sore for the first couple of hours, but when my dad picked me up from my friends house he had absolutely no idea it was there...and he still doesn't (to my knowledge.) There was some scary skin forming around it which I was scared about, but it went eventually.

I absolutely adore this piercing; the only thing is it gets covered in plaque so easily, even if you brush it daily. To get rid of this, I hold the hoop with a pair of tweezers and scrape the plaque off with a safety pin, effort, but necessary for a pretty piercing, make sure you do it over a sink because you will dribble lots...unless you're just me and are weird. It's nice to have some unusual to hide and freak people out with when you show them...people either love it or think you are very strange.

I have had trouble with it recently though, don't attempt to change the jewellery yourself, it is a bitch. I bought an eyebrow bar to put in because I wanted to get my tongue pierced (and didn't want them to rub against each other), and it took me AN HOUR AND A HALF to get the sodding ball off the bcr, and then the bar didn't fit. I then lost the ball to the bcr so had to put my old tragus hoop in. It took me an hour to put the ball on. Just don't change it, go back to the place you had it pierced if you need to change it.

But yeah, all in all, this is a beautiful piercing, and I love playing with it and catching it in between my teeth (although this will probably make it reject soon so I shouldn't really). I used to love this, and felt so naked when I took it out to change the jewellery. Now however, I have my tongue pierced and they are an AWFUL combination...but that is another story, which I will post on here soon.
