I've always wanted a multiple tongue piercing done so 3 days ago I decided to do it. I went into my local tattoo and piercing shop where I've had my tongue, belly button and one nipple done before so I knew the standards of sanitation there and I knew the people there are friendly and very informative. The piercer looked at me and asked what I wanted pierced this time and laughed. I told him I wanted another tongue piercing so he made me stick out my tongue and said that I had a choice of going in front or behind so I told him I didn't care where it went as long as it was in my tongue. He told me to come back in 2 hours and he would be able to do it so I paid in advance and left.

By the time I had finished my lunch I was scared, nervous and really excited which is a really weird sensation to have all three at once.
I had 10 minutes before I was due to be pierced so I went to macca's and got a bottle of water and a big cup of ice and went back to the tattooist's. Nathan saw me walk in and he said I didn't look as enthusiastic about getting it done as I was 2 hours ago. I just told him to shut up and pierce me. So he had me read and sign the consent form and then he went through aftercare with me just to make sure I still remembered what to do and then he took me into the piercing room and got me to sit on the chair while he took out all the tools he needed.
As he was getting his tools ready he told me he was going to pierce behind my other tongue ring and that I had to take my other bar out, so I took it out then he made me rinse my mouth out with really bad tasting Listerine. He then got me to sit back down and dried my tongue with paper towel and then he marked the spot where he was going to pierce and got me to check it out just to make sure it was straight, which it always is.
He then went to clamp my tongue and he accidentally clamped my web and holy crap I think I accidentally kick him *laughs*. So he took the clamp off and tried again, this time he got it on right but had trouble lining up the two marks he had made but he finally got there.
Now comes the piercing part. He told me to breath in and out and to wriggle my toes and the next thing I knew I was making weird painful sounds and had tears running down my face, I don't think I was crying I think they just watered heaps but oh my god it hurt so bad, he then left the needle in my tongue for about 5 seconds while he grabbed the barbell then he threaded that through then came the tightening of the ball, I think that part hurt more because he was moving my tongue around. Then he had to put my other barbell back in through my already swelling tongue which proved to be a very difficult thing to do so he put a pair of gloves on me and got me to do it coz I told him I wanted to put it in, so I got it through the hole then he put the ball back on.
He made me rinse my mouth out again with Listerine and then with sterile water because it was bleeding a bit. Then as soon as I did that I put an ice cube in my mouth to stop the swelling, (which actually works). Nathan then went over the aftercare again. Then I left. As soon as I got back to my boyfriends my mum rang and I was like "Oh f*** she's going to notice I cant talk properly" but she never did. I've been home for 2 days now and she hasn't noticed a thing. Everyone at work noticed and said I sounds like I had a speech impediment.
The aftercare i performed at home was easy to follow, just after anything has been in my mouth other than ice and water i rinse it with listerine. I ate straight after being pierced, just had a little difficulty working its way around 2 bars in my mouth but other than that its perfect, I couldnt have asked for a better piercing.
Whatever little swelling there was has almost gone and I can almost eat normal again.
If you are thinking of getting a multiple tongue piercing go for it only if u are comfortable with the person piercing it and that you believe their sanitation practices are very high.
