I am by no means tough. I can't even get a needle without crying. Seriously. This piercing was so fast and painless I couldn't believe it.

I asked my questions, he answered them thoughtfully and carefully and helped to calm my nerves. I gurgled with mouth wash and he marked the spot. He then asked me to open my mouth as far and wide as I could and to stick out my tongue as far and straight as it could go. I did so and he told me that I couldn't move until he said so, which obviously made me a little nervous. Deep breath in, the needle went in. Deep breath out, the bar went through. When he told me I was done, I honestly didn't believe him. There it was, a beautiful pierce of jewelery in my freshly pierced tongue.
I immediately started playing with it, which you are not supposed to do, but to this date it hasn't given me one ounce of trouble so it's all good.
Anyway, getting back to the pain. I can't explain what I felt, but it sure didn't hurt. It just felt like pressure- not painful but not enjoyable. It was over before I knew it so I didn't exactly have time to get nervous.
A word of advice. Don't watch someone else get it done because my friend wanted to get it pierced and after watching me she said she never could. I think she was in more pain from watching it than I was!
I have had my tongue ring for almost 5 months and it has given me no problems whatsoever. The actual piercing of it was virtually painless. The process took about 2 minutes and I was out of there. A day or so after I got it done, my tongue was so swollen I could barely talk and couldn't eat solids. Oh and puss comes out of it, which is beyond disgusting and tastes very, very bad, as you can imagine.
As far as lisps go, I have noticed a change in my voice but no one else has. Either that or they're just lying to me to spare my feelings. I wouldn't say I have a lisp, but I think you can tell I have something in my mouth. Because it heals so quickly, after I have put it back in after having it out for so long, it becomes a bit sore and my voice inches further towards having a lisp.
The only bad thing I can think of is the label that comes along with it. But actions speak louder than words so go for it! It is so much fun to play with and such a great conversation starter! As far as making out goes, it's not really enjoyable for you because it's very easy to forget it's there. I wake up in the morning and panic thinking I've forgotten to put it back in. But it's there you're mouth just gets very used to it. So much so, that when it's not in you're mouth feels so roomy and you're tongue and roof feel like complete strangers.
I had a great experience at Abstract Arts. I will definately be going there to get all my piercings.
It cost $60 but I was so pleased with the job that I left him a $10 tip. For those of you who have your belly button pierced and are disgusted with how much the rings cost, don't fret. Tongue rings cost $10-$20. You can even buy separate balls which are a lot cheaper and mix it up.
Something I am always amazed with is how when I drink something cold the top ball gets freezing while the bottom one is so warm from snuggling with my web. Can make for some interesting fun with your lover ;). Just kidding.
I don't regret my piercing one bit because I know when I want to take it out there will be absolutely no scarring and people will never know I ever had it. I must say for me personally though that the shock value has worn off. But when people notice you have it for the first time, it is so cute to see how into it they are. It's as if it is hypnotic.
To anyone who is interested, I say go for it all the way. You get tired of it you can take it out and it'll be fully healed within days. A lot of people don't even notice I have it and the ones that do go nuts for it. Haha. I don't regret this decision one bit and for anyone who wants it- just do it. There is honestly no pain so go and find out for yourself.
