My name is Kat, and I live in Orange County, California. I am nineteen years old, and I've been wanting to get my tongue pierced since I was ten because when I was ten my cousin Vicky got hers done, and from that day on it was my favorite piercing. There is not one piercing that I would rather have than my tongue.

They said that if I got it done, then my tongue would bleed an abnormal amount and that it wouldn't be worth doing it, they refused to do it for me. I was absolutely crushed when they told me that I couldn't do it. The thought that there would be a possibility that I couldn't get it done for some reason never crossed my mind. I was absolutely devastated! I was crushed, all those years I was looking forward to my eighteenth birthday for the sole reason of getting my tongue pierced, and now in a matter of five minutes, I'm told that it just won't be possible.
For two years before then since I was sixteen I spent a lot of time going to various piercing shops, to find the perfect one to get my tongue pierced at. I wanted to find the perfect place to get my piercing and I just loved going to the various places seeing how they differ, and what I liked most about them. I also had like 30 different tongue rings that I wanted to use when I got mine done. I ordered a bunch offline, and it was awesome. I had like eight black titanium barbells with like different colored rhinestones on them. My favorite ones were the hot pink the rhinestone, and the teal rhinestone. I also had all kind of UV barbells, glow in the dark, hot pink metallic, blue and purple metallic, and acrylic ones. I loved "tongue ring shopping". It was fun.
Well, when I found out I that I couldn't get it I took all of my tongue rings, put them in a box, and shoved them in my closet. For the next year I pretty much just dropped the whole thing, and then one day I went to a concert and there was a girl next to me and we started talking, and I noticed that she had two piercings horizontally in her tongue, and I had seen that before, but it never fazed me. I started to think hey! Oh my god!! The problem with me getting my tongue pierced was that I had a vein running through the middle which is what was preventing me from getting it, but I got it like her, two horizontally then it would totally avoid my vein and it wouldn't be an issue!! I was so excited.
It turned out that she lived like five miles away from me, and three weeks later she introduced me to her piercer. Her name was Cheryl she was twenty four. She was a licensed peircer, but I met her at her house because she didn't have work that day, so she took a look at me and said got sixty bucks?? I told her I had enough and she said okay then lets do this right now. I was really surprised I didn't expect to be getting my tongue pierced that day, but I had been waiting very extremely long for this day to come so I sat in her chair, and I was slightly shivering from excitement, and slightly nauseous from being nervous. My palms were ice cold. She gave me a little cup of mouth wash and told me to rinse for thirty seconds. After I was done my mouth burned, but I wasn't complaining, because I knew there was a lot more pain to come! She went over to her little piercing area and took out a little purple marker and marked my tongue to see where she would pierce it. The she took out the clamp, and by then I was ready to pass out. She put it on my tongue and I got chills, I wasn't expecting it to feel that cold, then she told me to close my eyes if I would feel more comfortable not seeing the needle go into my tongue, but I felt more comfortable looking, knowing what was going on. She then quicly just pushed the needle through the right side of my tongue, and surprisingly enough to me it just felt like a little pinch, she then slid the barbell through and did the left side. It was all a very exciting great experience. Now if it wasn't for that chance experience at that concert, I don't know how long it would have been before I realized that I can do that, or if I ever would have thought of that on my own.
The after care for my piecings was fairly easy. I didn't have any problems or complications. I basically just rinsed with salt water after every meal for the first couple of weeks and it was fine. I'm glad that I didn't get any infections or anything. I think the hardest part for me was the first couple of days when I had to really watch what I was eating, so that it wouldn't hurt, or get irritated.
The end.
