Well I first would like to say that I am infected with the piercing bug. And that all of my piercings (my belly button, my labret, my right eyebrow, and my tongue) were all done by myself or a good friend of mine, and that I don't recommend anyone to have a piercing done unless by a professional. With that said, here is my story.

My friend, Danielle, really wanted her tongue pierced, and another friend, Jamie, and I were going to do it for her. We were at Danielle's house, and there was six people in the room, including myself, and we were piercing Danielle's tongue. The 14 gauge, hollow needle went through easy, with little to no blood, and then I put in the tongue ring and she was finished and smiling. Then her boyfriend, Josh, wanting his tongue done too, so we cleaned the needle, and another tongue ring (with listerine) and did his tongue next, just as easy.

Now after seeing and helping all those piercings take place, I felt a desire to make another, un-natural, hole in my already over-pierced body. It was a quick decision, (which I also don't recomend) and I decided to have another hole pierced in my tongue. I hadn't ever seen anyone with two tongue piercings, except on BME, and thought that it would be a little more easy the second time, because I had already learned to talk, eat, and brush my teeth with one hole, five months before, and I figured two piercings wouldn't make much difference.

I asked Jamie if she would pierce my tongue, closer to the tip than the first one, and I would hold my tongue, and put the ring in. She agreed, but pierced it crooked. It hurt. I didn't expect it to, because the first one didn't hurt. (A little advice I've learned: if you think it's going to hurt, it probably won't. And if you think that it won't hurt, it probably will.) I put in the ring, and went over to kiss my boyfriend, with my new, multi-pierced tongue (which is also not too smart of me).

At first I didn't mind that the piercing was crooked, but then people kept noticing it, and it started to bother me. Since I was a pretty good and experienced piercer, although not with tongues, I asked Jamie if, this time, she would hold my tongue and I would pierce it. Again she agreed. Since I had just pierced my tongue, about ten minutes before, blood gushed out everywhere. I like blood and it didn't scare me until my hands were full of blood, and it was dripping unto my clothes. The needle, still in my tongue, looked like a foucet, pouring out blood. (I wish I had a camera) I swallowed as much of it as possible, and carefully put the ring in. I had also pierced it crooked, but it was better so I washed out my mouth and left it alone.

For the next few days Danielle, Josh and I cared for our new piercings like they were our new obsession. We took lots of ibeprofen, for the swelling, (which really does help, but seemed to work better the first time I had pierced my tongue) and rinsed our mouths with listerine every time we ate or smoked. We showed them to everyone who would take the time to look. A lot of my other friends didn't like the double piercings in my tongue. Especially because it was still some what crooked.

Then after about four or five days, I looked in the mirror, and noticed that a piece of my tongue was coming off. It was also sort of a yellowish color. I messed with it a little and I pulled a small chunk of taste buds off from around the new hole. It was pretty gross. My first thought was that it was infected. I asked my boyfriend if he really liked it enough that I should risk keeping it in. He said that he did like it, but it wasn't worth all of the possibilities that could happen if I left it in. That was all it took and I quickly took out the ring, (which your not supposed to do, if it is infected) and left it to heal.

It sucks that I had to take out one of my most prized piercings, but at least I still have a scar, for a memory. And I still have a bloodstain on the skirt I was wearing. And everyone now thinks I'm crazy for my calmness about how much blood I had lost. I'm planning on piercing it again, but now I'm also thinking about getting an anti-eyebrow piercing. I'll try sending BME a picture when or if I do. The piercing bug will never die.
