It all started one fine day in June. My sister James was going to get me something pierced for my sixteenth birthday which was in March. She was going to get her nipples vertically pierced. I wanted to get my nipples pierced also, but we called and they said they couldn't as I was not 18. So I decided I'd get the Venoms that I have also wanted for about two years.

James and our friend Benny came to pick me up after school around 3:30pm. I was excited and ready to go. We toured down to london heading to Addictive Tattoo Studio. It was a good 40 minute drive there from Stratford, and I became more and more excited with every minute that passed by. We got there around 4:15, toured up the steep stairs to the studio, and said hello to Jaqui. We sat down and looked at the magazines and portfolios while we waited for our turn.

After what seemed like forever, it was time. James went first, I watched the procedure. It seemed very painful, and her face sure showed it. But when she was done, they looked beautiful, and they still do five months later.

Now it's my turn. I sit myself down in the master chair, as Jaqui goes through the procedure and aftercare with me. She told me to rinse my mouth with sea salt water after I eat or drink anything besides water. She went on to tell me to rinse with baking soda and water twice a day. She told me not to drink any alcohol during the healing process, but if I was going to drink anyway, she said to stay away from beer or wine as it could result in a yeast infection. She also told me that my tongue was likely to swell up twice as much as a standard tongue piercing and I should suck on ice and take Advil to reduce the swelling and/or pain. Everyone I know who has gotten a standard tongue piercing has had there tongue swell up so much they couldn't eat or talk. I didn't know what to expect with double that. I like talking AND eating, so that would suck.

But regardless of the swelling that was yet to come, I was still so super excited I thought I was going to puke with excitement. Jaqui gave me a shot of mouthwash to swirl around my mouth while she got everything set up. Mouthwash sucks, it tastes like burning. She put a bib around my neck and began the marking. She said my veins were in just the right spot for this piercing.

When she was done marking she gave me a mirror and asked if I liked where they were placed. I told her it was beautiful. She laid me down and put the clamps on the left hole, positioning them just right. She told me that I had to take a deep breath in and when I let it out, thats when the needle will go through.

"Ok, breathe in, and out." *JAB*. Yes! The first one was in, it felt good, not painful at all. She put the jewelery in and asked if I was alright. I said "yah I'm excellent!" It felt weird to talk with the jewelery in. She proceeded to clamp the other side, and said the same thing

"Ok, breathe in, and out." *JAB*. It was amazing! She had told me that the second piercing may hurt more than the first one, but not for this girl! It didn't hurt in the least, it felt good, sort of refreshing. Jaqui put the jewelery in and I was done! I jumped up and looked at my new tongue in the mirror. They were perfect, completely beautiful. She gave me a cup of cold water.

I thanked her and payed her $107 (canadian) and we were on our way with our beautiful new piercings.

On the way home we picked up some baking soda for my tongue and Spectro Gel for James' nipples. That night I cleaned my piercings and went to bed. When I woke up in the morning, my tongue was a bit swollen, but not very much at all, and it didn't cause me any pain. It took me a bit longer to eat than usual because I wasn't used to eating with metal in my mouth. But I could eat anything I wanted with no pain. I had steak and salad and all that yummy goodness just 2 days after they were done. Now 5 months later I am still loving my Venoms, and don't know how I could have lived 16 years of my life without them. If anyone is thinking about getting Venoms, but is afraid of the pain and/or swelling. GET IT DONE! It's nothing but a great experience. If I can do it, you can do it, and you'll love them.
