Since I was about 7 or 8 years old I have always been fascinated by body piercings, I loved the way they looked and how they draw your attention directly to the area. To me a piercing is a new and wonderful extension to your body, I have a few piercing, most of which drive my parents crazy, I have my eyebrow done, my navel, and my ears done, at a 6, 8 and 10 and my cartilage is a 16. I wanted to get something new that none of my friends were really interested in, because well most of my friends are really into piercings, yet are to scared to actually go through with the actual thing.

Last July I got my eyebrow done and it was cool for about a month and then I got bored again so I started to think of a place to get something else done, Originally I wanted my labret, but my best buddy Jake had just gotten it done so I decided to leave that until next time. I asked a few people what they thought I should get done and most of them said my tongue, so that night I went home got onto BME and started to look up tongue piercings, all in all I thought that it looked really beautiful but really painful, I mean we have all bitten our tongue before and I knew how much that hurt, So I naturally thought that shoving a large steel needle threw it would hurt ten times as much .

I waited a little bit and talked to some people, a few of which had their tongues pierced, and they reassured me that it doesn't hurt and told me about what I needed to do and what would happen, another friend told me that I wouldn't be able to smoke for a few days which got me up the courage to quit smoking.

I asked my mom and she said that so long as I paid for it, it was alright with her, so I was happy, then I thought that I should talk to my dad who always says that theres enough holes in my body and can't understand why I would want more, but to my surprise he just grunted and said he didn't care, which made me ecstatic. So October 4th I got up the guts to go downtown, my boyfriend sister, and best buddy Jake all came with me for support, plus my Boyfriend was paying.

When we got into the shop there was nobody at the front desk, I could hear a buzzing noise and figured that they were busy with a tattoo, I sat on the couch and looked at the books full of tattoos, and wandered around the store a little looking at the jewelry, until about 2 minutes later, a few guys came up to the front and asked us what we were doing. by this time i was getting really nervous so my boyfriend told them that I was there to get my tongue done. They asked me to fill out the standard forms and then took me into the back room , we were joking around about things and I asked if this would hurt, Tony said that the worst part would be the clamp , he put on some gloves and told me that the clamp only clicked down 5 times and that he was only putting it on 1, he clamped his finger with the clamp and clicked it 5 times, he then told me that if he could handle it at five on his finger then I would definitely be able to handle it on 1, so he then made me stick out my tongue as far as I could and marked a spot, then asked me to lift my tongue, marked it an put a piece of paper towel under it, Tony told me that I have very good tongue muscles and a nice vein, which I thought was cute. He clamped me and showed me the needle he was going to use then told me to take a deep breath, then he stuck the needle threw, I could feel the needle slide threw my skin but I didn't feel any pain, I love that feeling. the only thing that kind of hurt was that he was pulling on the clamp really hard , he told me that it was so I wouldn't pull my tongue back in , even though I wasn't trying. He gave me the aftercare instructions and my Boyfriend ....also named Tony gave him the $55 i sat in the waiting room for a few minutes and let the adrenaline rush wear off.

I was walking around the rest of the day with a lisp. I got really upset though later on because I was really hungry but couldn't eat anything because my tongue was swollen and I couldn't really feel it. I went home and my mom asked what I had done so I walked up to her and stuck out my tongue. She thought it was adorable.

It's been three weeks now and it feels great I have bitten it a few times which hurts but that is about it, though now all my friends are getting theres done.

Anyways I love my tongue piercing and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants it, especially if they want a remotely painless piercing... even though it does swell up like crazy.
