Its Wed. night, I'm alone. My girlfriend is spending a week in Mexico, I'm bored and I'm in a cutting mood. Since my Scarification piece I've been trying to direct my cutting to a more constructive mutilation. I've been toying with the idea of venoms for about 5 months. After talking to several local shops, I decide the $50 charge is way too much for someone to stab me. I've felt this way since my scar, and had I known the steps and simplicity I would have done that myself as well. I've got 2 barbells from my sister and my girlfriend, plenty of needles, and as I said I'm in a cutting mood

My tools include 1 slim sewing needle, two- 10 ga. Safety pins (approx), a rag, half a bottle of Listerine, and both of my previously owned bars. I've got the prep taken care of as best as I can, boil the needles and bars then soak them in a cup of Listerine while waiting to be used. I rinse with Listerine for 30 seconds and prepare for the procedure.

My tolerance for pain is set extremely high due to dislocating my hip about 2 years ago. After such intense pain throughout recovery, nothing hurts anymore. I believe it may be a faster acting endorphin system or the fact that I can release small levels of endorphins leaving me light-headed and feeling good just talking about the pain from my hip injury. I'm also not much of a bleeder as I discovered during my scarification. My bloodshed is so limited that the artist became frustrated w/ the fact that an hours worth of cutting was wiped up with 1 paper towel. With concerns about pain and blood loss set aside I am free to continue.

I begin by checking the underside for veins and decide the best location. I then mark the entry and exit w/ a green felt tip pen. I grab my tongue in the rag and slowly shove the sewing needle through bottom to top. The feeling can be described as no worse than an ant bite on the surface of my tongue paired w/ the cold sensation from the metal in the middle of my tongue. After grabbing the needle on both ends and tugging for a min. or two in order to stretch the hole, I remove the sewing needle.

I then insert the safety needle from top to bottom. I feel the needle glide through the existing hole, during which I feel no pain, only feel the cold of the needle from sitting in the Listerine. It was a bit difficult getting the needle to exit the top on my tongue. For it to work I had to insert the needle halfway through from top to bottom then again from bottom to top to enlarge the hole. After doing so the needle passes through effortlessly.

>From there I tug again then force the bar through from bottom to top then top to bottom halfway then finally all the way through. My initial marks were set a little to far back for my intended purposes so I remove the first bar, relocate the dots, and repeat. For the second bar on the opposite side I do the same.

I did notice that afterward and for the rest of the night I felt the same kind of fuzziness and light-headed feeling of a high strength prescription painkiller. Which I amount to my elevated endorphin levels after the procedure.

The bars are centered and even w/ each other. I'm Just now through day 4 and I've had no problems w/ the new mod. Besides eating 1 light meal a day. My speech is normal, pain is a dull ache at best, my tongue is slightly swollen but nothing worse that a bite. My biggest difficulty is spitting. Blood during the procedure was limited to small dots on the rag and nothing more.

Aftercare consists of continued regular brushing, rinses w/ Listerine after every meal, and swabbing the exposed bars w/ Listerine then turning them. I believe my tongue to be mostly healed after only 4 days due to the way in which the holes were created. Instead of creating a plug w/ a hollow needle I've effectively shoved the flesh aside to make room for the bar resulting in less reconstruction for my body to deal with.

I enjoy my piercing very much so far and look forward to surprising my girlfriend upon her return from Mexico. My families likes the piercings but were surprised when told it was done myself. As my sister said "My brothers crazy w/ the pain."

I would not suggest this method to anyone as pain, sterilization, and placement all provide challenges. I had no problems with this mod. And would do it over in an instant.
