After deciding that I would be going to Thunder Bay for a concert I came to the realization that I could get a piercing. I have heard nothing but good things about a local piercing shop there by the name of Creations. After deciding that I was going to get a piercing there, I realized that I should probably pick a piercing before waltzing up the doors of the piercing studio and finding out that I don't even know what I wanted pierced. After thinking over all the possibilities I decided that I would go for something different than what most people have in our town. Tongue piercings have become very popular here and I figured why not go and keep adding to my tongue just to keep it slightly different. When I finally arrived in Thunder Bay, my friend Nick and I went to Creations where he had his lip pierced and I figured this would definitely be the place to get my tongue done. We walked into the studio and I was able to make an appointment in the afternoon that same day.

I find this helps out a lot so I am not passing out and this way I don't have to go through the difficulties of trying to eat with a swollen tongue. An hour slowly passed by as I was waiting to get back to the studio to get my tongue pierced again. Finally when 3:00 came around I was back in the vehicle going back to Creations to get what my parents call "another needle shoved through my body".
Matt kindly showed me to the piercing room where I was told that this tongue piercing may seem different from the first. My tongue would still swell up but during the healing process, my tongue would not be as sore as it was with the first. What this really meant that I would have to be extremely careful with playing with my barbells which seemed to be a challenge considering I have developed habits of playing with the barbell in my mouth. I was sent to the sink to rinse out my mouth with sterisol which is also known as my God. After rinsing out my mouth, I was seated in the chair where I had my tongue wiped with the cotton swab After having my tongue wiped dry it was marked so it would be aligned with my first tongue piercing. I decided that I would get my second tongue piercing closer to the tip than the first. Once my tongue was marked I had the familiar feeling of clamps on my tongue and took a deep breath in and out. When I exhaled I felt the needle entering and exiting out of my tongue which was new to me. The first time I had my tongue pierced I didn't feel a thing at all. Feeling the needle enter and exit through my tongue didn't bother me at all though considering it didn't hurt, it was just awkward. What really bothered me was that I was drooling all over myself. Well, Matt told me that I would be drooling because I explained to him how I hadn't drooled at all my first time. That shut me up. A fourteen gauge barbell was put through the hole and then I was given my aftercare procedures which seemed to be harder to follow than I would like to admit. After the aftercare procedures were given I happily exited the room with my tongue completely swollen and talking with quite the lisp. I paid for my piercing and left smiling more than ever, that is until I could tell how I was talking.
For the next two weeks I continued to talk with a lisp. I was not used to having two barbells in my mouth and my tongue was extremely swollen. After the swelling went down the barbells were still too long and I continued to lisp until changing my barbells. I had difficulties eating while my tongue was swollen and food seemed to get caught up in my barbells during the time when they were too long. After arriving back home the local piercer changed the ends on my barbell which ended up being too large so my new tongue piercing healed slightly crooked. I deserve that for going to someone who has no clue what they are doing with piercings but I had been biting down on my barbells too often and was scared about chipping my teeth as a few of my friends managed to do with their longer barbells. After switching my longer barbells to shorter ones my tongue piercings seemed to be lined up perfectly again and I have learned from my decision to go to the local piercer for any advice.
