I've liked body piercings for as long as I can remember. I started seeing modified people at a very young age, and fell in love with the whole idea immediately. Of course my mom wouldn't let me get pierced until I was thirteen, then all the fun started.
At A Glance Author Kelsie Contact Kelsie@bme.anon When Three months ago Artist Matt Studio To The Point Location Abbotsford The idea of getting venoms started when I was bored at the wee hours in the morning, I was surfing through BME and stumbled upon them. I instantly knew that I had to have it done sooner or later. I told my mom about what I was wanting the next day and of course she replied with her usual, "Oh god Kelsie, why can't just be happy with the way you are." But who the hell would want to stay like that. You can be happy with the way you are and expand the happiness with modifications. It adds to who you are.
Fast forward a few days, I called around my area for prices. I've been to all of the studios in Abbotsford. But I'd never gotten pierced at To The Point, only tattooed. I must say it was the most expensive place to go to, even with a deal on.
I went to school the next day and at lunch decided that I had spare time to get it done since I wasn't working and I had the money for it. I called the shop and asked if they had any appointments at about the time it would take me to catch a bus over to the area. They said they didn't have any appointments at that time and it would be fine for me to walk in. I took the bus over to the shop, with 5 people who wanted to watch, by this time I was starting to get nervous as I always do. We walked into the shop I told the counter person what I was there for and he called Matt. Matt said he would be a few minutes getting everything organized so I stayed in the lounge area and talked with the guy at the counter. Moments later I was called back, and I brought one of my friends back with me. He explained the risks of the piercing and that if it got infected I would immediately have to go to the doctor. He then checked my tongue for veins and asked where I wanted the placement. I had a choice over the outside of my major veins or inside. I chose inside because I though outside would make it harder on my teeth. Next he brought out the lavender to calm down the nerves and some other essential oil to make the endorphins kick it. I was then told to Listerine myself up. He got out the needles, clamps, and the paper towel for the drool that was about to come and last but defiantly not least lubricant to make the needles insert smoothly. He put the needle through his glove, made me stick out my tongue as far as possible. He then clamped it and asked if I was ready, I tried my best to say yes, but it's a little hard when piercers got your tongue (har har). He told me to take 4 breaths, and that we would pierce the first side on the fourth inhale. So as the first three breaths passed I thought hmm this is probably going to hurt a hell of a lot. It crossed my mind to hold my breath so the fourth inhale would never come, and then I remembered that piercing is only a few seconds of pain and is totally worth it. So I grabbed my frien °>ÃwŒë d's hand, squeezed it, and inhaled for the fourth time. The pain wasn't bad at all, basically just a quick prick. He got the barbell said it might hurt a tiny bit and slid it through, I barely felt it. Then he went to reach for a marker to mark the next hole that was due to go through my tongue. Then he remembered he forgot to get it. So he told me I could go out to the lounge and chat to my friends for a minute and he would grab the marker. I did just that, although there wasn't much chatting, just them crowding around my newly pierced tongue. He came back out and said he was ready. By this time my tongue was starting to swell. I went back in with my friend and he marked my tongue. He then looked at it from different distances asked my friends and my opinions. We all agreed it was a little bit crooked. So he marked it again, this time it was perfect, I took one last look in the mirror to make sure and hopped back onto the table. He clamped my tongue, got the second needle out, lubed it up and told me to do the same breathing. Fourth inhale and the needle goes through, but hits my lip. I was to stunned to actually realize this, so he politely told me to stick out my tongue further to get my lip out of the way. The pain of number two was definitely worse. I squeezed the hell out of my friend's hand and my eyes even watered a little. It probably hurt more from my tongue swelling up so much, the needle definitely had more to go through that time around. Next he put the barbell in and screwed on the balls, all done! Matt took a few pictures then went over aftercare and what I should avoid for the initial healing period. I said my multiple thank-yous, paid my $102.00 + tip and was off on merry little way to get a slushy.
During the next few days it swelled quite a bit, to the point where I had indents in my tongue from the balls. I called in and asked if there was any way to get longer barbells he said that's as long as they get, if they get close to being completely sucked it then to come in and he would take a look at it and also that if I had any other questions not to hesitate to call in. I kept my tongue well iced and took ibuprofen to keep the swelling down. It was harder to talk, and my family and friends poked fun at me for it, but after the swelling went down I talked completely normal again. My venoms are now healed, and look awesome. I love them and I'm so glad I got them done. I recommend To The Point tattooing and body piercing to everyone in the area, and even to others if they're willing to travel. The staff is very friendly and takes the time to properly explain everything to you. They make you feel more than welcome and in damn good hands! And I must say my money was very well spent. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
