I got my tongue pierced for the first time the day after I turned 18, which was this past December. In the past five months I've had my nipples and belly button pierced, along with several ear piercings. I'm very happy with each piercing; I consider them a part of me. I'm constantly looking for and getting body mods that appeal to me.

I figured some shopping would help to lift my spirits. After spending some money on my beloved turtles I went to the mall and bought some jewelry, which made me think: "Hey, I haven't got a new body mod in a while!"("A while" to me is a few weeks; I got a tattoo not too long ago) Due to my job I can't get a facial piercing right now, so the vertical labret I've been wanting was out of the question for the time being. However, had my tongue not been long enough for another piercing I would have gotten a regular labret and told them to shove it. I told the people at Body Extremes this and they laughed. Hey, I can't and won't go into a piercing parlor without getting something done. I guess you could call it an addiction. I also considered a clit piercing, another body mod that I really want, but decided that would wait for another day. Probably a day soon after my next paycheck. I remembered looking at multiple t ongue piercings on the BME site and how cool I thought they all looked.
All the piercings I have are shared by at least one of my friends, but none of them have two tongue rings. I would finally have a body mod to be known for! So I decided that I was going to get another tongue piercing. I went to Body Extremes in North Quincy, MA. It's one of the most well known and dependable places in New England, luckily it's like 2 minutes from my house.
I walked in and asked the guy at the counter if he thought there would be room on my tongue for another piercing. He said he thought so but had to check with Mik. Mik said that there was plenty of room and that he would pierce me. I filled out the form then waited a few minutes while Mik pierced someone else. While I was waiting, his assistant had me rinse my mouth with listerine for 20 seconds at a time for about 2 minutes. Once it was my turn, the procedure was relatively quick and painless. I sat down and Mik dried my tongue and marked the part that was going to be pierced. His assistiant held my tongue out with tongs and Mik stuck the needle through just behind the original piercing. I remember the first time getting my tounge pierced that there was a moment of sharp pain, then there was some discomfort in the days after. The second time around I honestly barely felt the needle go through. I got the piercing about 3 hours ago and I still don't feel any discomfort. I thin k my tongue may be a little swollen, but not as much as with the first piercing. Mik recommended that if I still had the long bar from getting my tongue pierced the first time that I put it in again just in case my whole tongue swells up. Miraculously I still had it, and put it in. So I'm all set if my tongue decides it wants to act up.
The care of the second piercing is the same as the first. Rinse with Listerine(Personally I always dilute it a bit with some water) after eating/drinking, avoid spicy foods and try to avoid oral sex for a couple weeks. I can't stop looking at my tongue. I always go through a stage after a new mod where I can't keep away from the mirror, and that's where I am right now. My friend was joking with me that I'm going to give even more incredible head now. That wasn't the reason I got it done, but hey I won't complain if that's the case and I'm sure guys won't either!
I think the double tongue piercing looks great and I love the fact that it's not so common. I see lots of people with tongue piercings but I haven't seen anyone in person with two tongue rings. So don't get it done! Let me be unique! Nah, I'm just kidding. Go for it if you want. Getting your tongue pierced the second time doesn't hurt any more than the first time. It actually hurt less for me. But I had better not see a hundred people tomorrow with the same piercings as me!
