Well I had always liked tongue piercings, and the thought of having multiple ones was amusing. It was just something different and I didn't know anyone with it done so it appealed to me. So about 10 months ago I decided to get my first one done. I had a great experience with the first and had very little swelling or anything so the second one would be like that..right?

We decided to go to Scotia Tattoo, because we had heard good things about it and it is one of the cheapest places around here that isn't dirty. Neither of us had been there before but I had confidence in it. But we were smart and didn't bother to call before hand to see if the place was open, and lucky us, we went on the only day it wasn't open. Go us..it was a huge disappointment. So the next day we tried again, this time we called before we actually went!
Now to the piercing. We showed up and didn't have much of a wait which was nice. I had asked the guy at the front desk if I should change my previous barbell to the longer starter barbell that I got when I first got it done to accomodate for swelling and he told me I should, so I did. Then when I went in the guy who was actually piercing me told me that I shouldn't have. My friend decided to go first, he explained all the autoclave information and what he was going to do and then proceeded to pierce her. It went well and then it was my turn.
I wasn't very nervous because I had already gone through this before. So he told me to rinse my mouth with mouthwash and then he sat down and dried my tongue with paper towel. He then marked where it was going to be and checked with me to make sure it was in a good spot. He said it was going to be placed on an angle to the right so it would end up on the side of the tendon because my other one was done to the left. You can only tell its this way if you look at it from the bottom, and even then it is very hard to notice. Next he put the clamp on and made sure I was okay with it. Then he told me to breath in and hold and let out when he told me to. So I breathed in and he pierced and then I let it out. It hurt more than I had expected it to. It still wasn't that bad though, just a sharp pinching pain. He then told us how we should take care of it and we were off.
We were both really happy with the way it had turned out and we headed up to the mall for something to do. Well about half an hour later I realized that my bottom ball had fallen off so I had to struggle to get it back on. It wasn't much fun. It was only slightly swollen at this time and was only a little sore. Then my friend's fell off ten minutes later so I had to try to get her's on. Now getting your own on it a whole lot easier than someone elses but after a bit of struggling it went on. We ended up having to do this about 4 times throughout the next hour because the balls kept falling off, and each time we would tighten them tight but they just wouldn't stay on.
That night I decided that I would stay at my friends house and by twelve o'clock my tongue was very swollen and very uncomfortable. I drank a lot of ice water, which only helped so much, and ended up keeping me up most of the night because I have a very small bladder. So the next morning it was still pretty swollen and I was very unhappy and tired. But I wasn't going to back down. I kept drinking ice water and by the next night the swelling had mostly gone down. It was just in the mornings for the next week that it was a little sore. But after the first week it had never hurt again. I loved it so much.
My dad knew that I had my first tongue piercing done but doesn't know about the second one yet, and my mom knows about neither. I think they are great things and I would recommend them to everyone.
