I have wanted to get my tongue pierced for a very long time. Even when I first saw it I thought it was really cool. There was only one problem, my mom didn't agree at all. For weeks I asked my mom and keep begging and threatening and trying everything I could just to get her to agree. My sister wanted to get hers pierced and we wanted to do it at the same time so there was twice as much pressure on my mom. She didn't seem to care and said if we didn't stop asking we were going to be grounded. Lucky my best friend wanted to do it to and my best friend's mom is my mom's best friend. At first her mom said no but since her mom can get talked into things really easily she finally agreed. After my friend got it done she showed my mom and myself. After long talks of explaining why I wanted it (she thought I wanted it for sexual pleasures which I do not) she finally agreed to let me because Sorchia (my best friend) was allowed to. Sorchia said that she talked normal right away and i t didn't really hurt. She could eat and drink normally and the swelling sub-sided quickly for her. Unfortunately that's not at all what happened with me.

We found a nice place called renaissance, which was recommended by my aunt. After about 3 days of waiting cause my mom was working she finally took my sister and I. I walked in and went to the desk and had to fill in papers so that I was allowed. I looked around because Alisha (the one who was going to pierce my tongue) was busy with someone else. They had a lot of nice jewelry to choose from. Finally the Alisha came out and took my sister, mom and myself in. The room was very clean and tidy and all the equipment was in sealed packages. Alisha explained the process and answered any questions that we had about it or that we wanted to know. I had to rinse my mouth out with mouthwash before she could pierce my tongue. I suddenly was very nervous and made my sister go first (she's 17 so she should have to anyway). Tanisha (my sister) stuck out her tongue and told her where she wanted it to be pierced. Alisha clamped her tongue and pierced it. She didn't look to be in pain but s he has a higher tolerance for pain then I do so I was still scared. I asked Tanisha how it was she told me it's like biting your tongue. She sounded a bit different but not too much.
I got in the chair and stuck my tongue out. I could put it out a lot farther then my sister so I could get it farther back if I wanted to but I didn't. I wanted it rite near the front. I was really nervous and I was drooling. She clamped my tongue, which I didn't find painful and got ready. She told me to deeply in and out and she stuck the needle through. It did NOT feel like biting on your tongue it felt worse. She stuck the bar through and I was done. There was a little bit of blood but not much since I'm not really a bleeder. I couldn't even talk well she reminded us what to do and while my asked what to buy to rinse out our mouths which. It hurt and I didn't want to talk cause that hurt more.
That night I didn't eat or drink anything it was just too hard. My tongue was already swollen to the size of the bar. I went to school the next day and didn't say much. A lot of people kept on asking to see so I kept having to stick my tongue out. I tried to eat lunch but I couldn't I didn't even drink because for some reason that hurt a lot too. I almost starting to regret what I had done since I couldn't eat or drink and I sounded really weird when I talked. My sister on the other hand was fine and talked normal, could eat and drink whenever she wanted. On the fourth day I could finally drink something. After about a week I started talking normal and I ate and drank more. I kept rinsing my mouth out to keep it clean. I went back to renaissance after a week and downsized my barbell. I choose a glow in the dark one.
Now it's six months later and I love my tongue ring. I don't regret it at all. If your thinking of getting your tongue pierced you can email me about it and ask questions. I'll try and help you with whatever you need.
