On September 27.2003 I went down the shore thinking I was going to get my labret done but on the 2 hour drive to the tattoo and piercing place I go to, something else ran through my head. I thought that maybe I should get the tongue web done instead because it is easily hidden. Now the last time I went to the shore I came home with my tongue pierced two months before and decided it was time for something new and something I have not seen on everyone. Considering my birthday wasn't no more than a week before I decide I was going to go down and visit my Mom and get a birthday piercing. Her treat.

Well I get to the shop and I start talking to my piercer and he asked what my sister wanted and then me. We got there at about eight o'clock P.M. When I told him I wanted the tongue web he looked at me and put a big evil grin on his face, like he always does before he pierces me, like he is going to put me through a lot of pain and said OK. Around twelve o'clock A.M. he pierced my sister and then he told me to smoke my last cigarette because I was next. So in the mean time I was getting nervous and I smoked like 5 cigarettes before my piercing because I knew I wouldn't have one for a while. Then when the shop started to fill with people he called me back behind the counter to do my piercing. That's when I started to get really nervous, I was shaking so bad I had to have my Mom come back and hold my hand. There were also a lot of people watching too because they have never seen it done nor have they even heard of it being done. So she was sitting there holding my one hand whi le I was sitting on my other hand so that incase that when he pierced it and it hurt a lot I wouldn't punch him. So he got me all ready with the clamp and the jewelry and all that gave me some Listerine and we got on our way. I sat back up on the table and he clamped me and then had the other piercer who works there hold my tongue up. When I get pierced I let go of all my muscles and relax so i don't feel the pain as bad and when I looked around there was the other tattooist watching. Let me remind you none of them have seen this done before. He told me to take a deep breath through my mouth and out my nose. As I was breathing out he put the needle through and I felt a sharp pain that felt like it lasted forever. A piece of skin got caught on the needle and it pulled it out a little bit farther then the rest of it but when it went back into place there was no more pain. Then there came the tear to let me know that it was almost over. And it was. He put the jewelry through (14-g ball closure ring) and let me sit for a few seconds to collect m y thoughts before he put the ball on. It took about 3 minutes to get the ball in the right place to be put on right and it was over so I didn't have to feel that pain ever again. Well not for another 2 months when I am going to get another one.

My tongue is now a little swollen and I feel my barbell in my tongue getting a little snug. In a few days the swelling will be gone and I will have a piercing I can talk correctly with. My mouth tastes like Listerine but its well worth it. I am also eating solid foods; I am just practicing saying "s" sounding words again, like bounce and distance. I wouldn't trade this piercing for the world. So if you like piercings that are easily hidden and that are fun to play with when you get board and leave a mystery side to you then I highly recommend getting your tongue web pierced. The pain is pleasurable and it hurts for the first few seconds but when you get the jewelry in it doesn't hurt anymore. The only down fall from getting any oral piercings (ex: tongue, tongue web) is your tongue gets stiff in the morning when you wake up until you brush your teeth and start to move it around and play with it. But other than that it is an awesome piercing and you can also put a variety of jewelry in it. So don't hesitate to go out and get yours done too!
